Rated 5 out of 5 by from A True All-In-One The MFC-J5920DW is the best All-In-One printer I have ever purchased. It prints excellent documents, no matter what mode you set it to print in. It handles every type of paper I have placed in the three paper trays. It handles duplex printing without a hitch. Photo printouts are beautiful. Best of all for me is that it allows you to set up tray 1 or tray 2 to handle 11 by 17 paper. I am a woodworker and this allows me to print larger drawings, which makes it easier on my old eyes. The copy and fax functions perform equally well. The price of the printer fit my budget and even the printer cartridges are reasonably priced. I love this printer!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from So far everything is great!!! I Love the print quality of everything that comes out. The only thing that I'm not to fond of is the top load paper feeder. I may be putting to many sheets but with like 12 sheets it tends to feed 3-4 at a time. Other than that everything is great definitely recommend this printer.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very reliable & consistant Printer has been easy to hook up to my home WiFi network. Periodically it has to be reprogrammed due to being inactive.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Print Quality was awful We ended up returning this printer because the print quality was awful and no matter how many setting we adjusted the print speed was snail pace. Very dissatisfied!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from printer meets expectations and service exceeds it! I am very happy with the printer. I wish, though, that the procedure to print checks would be inserted in the instructions. There seems to be no way to print partial check sheets. Pity that. My main reason for buying another Brother product was the telephone service. My expectations were more than full met, again. Well done!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Printer This printer has a nice footprint and does the job at less cost.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good, fast printer Printer works as advertised. Seems faster than rated (although that may just be my reaction coming from my old printer. Only negatives I have are (1) when you want two sided printing, you can't specify ink jet paper (which is what I have) so you have to tell it regular paper; and (2) the colors don't seem as bright/vivid as my old printer. That could be that the color settings need tweaking.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Slow connection speed The printer has great features but the connection speed is incredibly slow
Date published: 2017-01-29T00:00:00-05:00
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Does not perform as advertised I purchased this printer because it had two trays and two more feed slots to print on different mediums for different purposes. It works on my computer that has an early version of Word; I think Word 3. The two other main computers has later versions of Word and it does not allow you to select the trays or slots to print. The paper feeder also does not allow printing on multiple envelopes; they jam every time. I have called and nothing seems to work. I purchased this from Brother before it was in the stores. I have been a fan of Brother but this is EXTREMELY disappointing. I Must get something from you that works or I am going to try to stay on the phone long enough to demand a return.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Not great ADF scanning leaves streaks. Printing in color not consistent. Spent 2 hours on the phone with customer service. No real help there.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from love this printer quiet, versatile, easy setup, smart software, what more can I say? Haven't had it long enough to comment on ink savings yet. Other ledger size inkjets I've had of this size don't compare to the design quality and ease of use. But...time will tell.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Constant Errors I am absolutely astounded by the sheer variety of errors this printer is able to produce. I purchased this printer after my previous Brother printer stopped functioning with a weeks-long imaginary paper jam. I read through the impressive specs on this page and hoped that investing in a higher cost printer would translate into higher efficiency. Months later, I can confidently conclude that my old hope for a semi-error-free Brother printer was about as realistic as my old hope for a Hogwarts letter. The specs boast an impressive 30ish pages per minute printing speed; I would say around a quarter of that rate is more realistic. I'm not sure what factory/labratory/top-notch engineering conditions that data was found in, but the quote does not live up to my wired, USB-direct, iMac and printer connection (despite being supposedly speedy according to my hour-long call with customer service. In addition, this printer is insanely loud. I had thought the other reviewers were exaggerating when describing the noise level; well, I guess I should have listened. To be fair, the printer does have a quiet mode, a function which decreases the volume at the expense of the already disappointing print speed. Most frustratingly of all, the native scanning programs of this printer are disgraceful. I have spent a ludicrous length of time going through the wired installation process in the hope that a direct connection would improve the printing and scanning speed. If the print speed has improved at all, it must be microscopic because I certainly haven't noticed a difference. As for scanning, I discovered that a direct USB connection can only use the native Brother scanning program, which is miles behind the ability of Google Drive's Web Connect scanning program. The OCR - a program that turns images to text for searchable PDFs, docs, etc. - of Brother's Control Center and its mandatory PageManager accompaniment can only create illegible strings of characters. However, to use Google Drive's superior scanning and OCR through Web Connect is incredibly slow, and results in more errors than I have ever dreamt of existing. The purchase of this printer was an error.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Working through the many features I just acquired this printer and am working through it's many features. I am a teacher and wanted flexibility in paper sizes and print output. I create a lot of PDF's for my digital tool box. This is my first Brother printer.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from disappointed purchased for my mac desk top...slower than the epsom it replaced...but that's ok...biggest frustration is that i have to at least 2-3 times a week reset my wifi on the printer. very frustrating...had a brother a few years ago and had issues as well..thought it was better...wrong!!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nice printer but! Quality is good, but the speed advertised does not seem to be what I got. It's not much faster than my old brother printer. I do like brother products because the cartridges are so much cheaper than anyone else and the quality is very good. Just disappointed in the printer speed

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Saves Money Bought this printer because of the potential saving we would get on ink. So far things look good. The printer was easy to setup and handles envelopes without issues. Print quality is just ok. Issues that we are having that will need further investigation are; the device does not switch automatically to next tray when one tray runs out and this makes sense if you are load different types/sizes of paper but if not the device should have an auto switching feature. The device is tall and does need a bit of room around it in order to be able to use the rear feed and the scanner tray. One last thing, it is loud when printing and has a quite mode but that does reduce printer speed a bit. Over all we are happy with the device and hope to really give it a good workout in 2016!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great options and excellent printing I have been using another printer lately as I was not happy with my previous, but I saw a video review on this model and it looked too good to be true, but I ordered anyway. I am dumbfounded how easy everything prints and all the different options work. First, I use a mac so my review is specific to mac. Installation is a breeze, using mine wireless and connected first try. Never drops it's connection, reliable. I truly love the 2 sided printing, saves a good deal of paper and it does allow for an ink dry before it pull in the paper. I printed a union contract of 111 pages and it was completed in a little over 4 minutes, pretty decent. The print is clear, not faded, and sharp. I decided to look at printing some colored files and on regular inkjet paper the graphic is clear and concise, but the color is faded. I just opened up the next print job and selected the options to change and found it does print vibrant graphics although I may be using more ink, t=but the XL cartridges are cheaper than other manufactures. Photos are never an inkjet AIO primary job but I decided to try some. I selected a nice scene from Longwood Gardens and found the color was off a bit and not as sharp. Again, when you print a photo you can alter the brightness, contracts, color saturation, and many other changes. I am now printing photos that are just as good as Walmart or CVS. I use Brother 4x6 and letter size paper all borderless and good enough for me, but I am not a professional photographer who would find something to disagree. Handles paper well, and the manual feed works well. I feed all photo paper through the manual feed without incident. This printer has a quiet setting but I did not activate it. It does make some tapping noises when printing and the rollers are a bit louder than my previous printer, but its fine for me. Fax works perfectly and so easy. The web apps are good to use. You can fax to email, fax to app, copy to email or app, and other selections. I am very satisfied with this printer. Using a mac does require to make some printing adjustments for photos and graphics but do not be put off by this, you can do it and find great copies. I highly recommend this printer and have been using it for over 2 months. kudos Brother.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome!! I've had several multi-function printers over the years, but my new Brother - MFC-J5920DW is by far, the BEST one I've purchased. It's easy to use and I really like the Real-Time online interface. The "double" trays are also a very good feature.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Ink capacity is a joke. I only got 260 pages. Got a new printer for 300 bucks. It printed only about 220 pages, plain paper with normal ink output. PRinter takes 4 minutes to print first page, 3 minutes to print second page... receiving data.... and then keeps getting stuck inbetween.... getting data... What a waste of time and money.
