Great label printer
It took a little time to get the hang of it. The manual was of little help. But once you become familiar with it, you have to love it. I never knew that a printer could have continues feed. No longer limited to a pre determined length. Really a great feature.K

Great printer
Printer is fantastic, software is not the easiest to use. It is not as user friendly as other software especially when you are using multiple size labels to print. I use this to put price tags on all my products. You can only reduce a upc code to a limited size where I would prefer to be able to reduce it more to fit my .9x.9 labels. Using the database is a must and a bit of a learning curve. Thanks to youtube university for all the help. Brother customer service knows nothing when it comes to this printer.

label printer
I guess I expected a label printer where I could determine the label, but had to select from a menu of labels which were not what I wanted. I did have lots of problems getting the printer to print, mainly because it needed to have selected the label loaded in the printer and there was no markings on the labels to identify them, not even the labels supplied with the printer. Does print well.

High Quality Printing
I initially bought the QL-800 because it was an inexpensive thermal printer and I am starting a home-based business on the cheap. With just using the sample rolls of labels and tape, I was very impressed with the quality printing and ability to have red too, instead of just black on the labels.
It's very easy to swap out the roll for tape or labels.

Easy, High Quality, Two Color
Bought a refurbished one. It's been nothing but excellent. Fired right up, P-Touch Editor is AMAZINGLY easy to use. I've used Photoshop for a decade, and I just import my JPEG, hit "check media", and it prints right out! It's easy to load paper, I use it for produce labels so I was happy to see the two color (red/black is waterproof and extremely durable. I just can't say enough good things about it. Note: Power chord is only about 4 feet, which isn't a huge deal, just realize you will need an extension chord if you're running it a long way.

Great printer. Horrible software.
I've finally managed to get the printer to do what I want to do but I still can't figure out how to turn a list of addresses in MS Word into a source of labels for all addresses. The software that runs the printer is HORRENDOUSLY complicated and not at all intuitive. Just want to print out 30 labels for your usual suspects in Word or Excel? Or a single-name label? Good luck.
If there's an ultra-simple demo or instruction sheet on how to do the simplest thing I've yet to find it. If you want to create your own custom label that may or may not link to your addressee list then enjoy the hours of fiddling around to make this happen.
Kludgy is the only word that adequately describes the software that comes with the printer.

Easy to Operate
This product I recently bought is easy to operate, but a feature I thought I was getting such as the merging of data from my Excel spreadsheet was not explained in the literature that came with my printer. But, it does work perfectly. I type individual names and addresses onto the label software and it print each out neatly. And it does not need ink, ;but the printing is dark and legible. I like it, but it is time consuming to print individual labels. My next step is to email Brother's Customer Service about instructions to print endless labels from my mailing lists [on my Excel Spreadsheet] I purchased, to market my products.

Best Way to Print Labels
I wasn't sure how much I would like this printer, but it's so easy to use and very handy. I particularly like the 2-color printing feature. The desk top application is easy to use, and my labels come out perfect everytime, whether I need 1 or 100.

Reliable and world great.
So this printer, for the price, is really handy to have. The red/black labels are nice, but keep in mind only one label size exists and it is rather expensive. But the good part, this printer works with the older black and white labels as well. Now the bad part, the included P-touch editor is bad, had to understand, and always take much longer to use than it should.

Good worker
My only complaint doesn't sound big, except in my circumstances. The closest I can put it is about 3 feet away to the power button. Since this device turns itself off when I put the computer in sleep mode it turns itself off. It is very hard to reach the power button without an extension device, like a 2 foot long dowel. Is there any way to leave it on? My previous label printer (Seiko 450 lasted over 10 years and it stayed on 24-7.

I am using this for Barcodes and shipping labels. It integrates with my retail software and still works independently. Auto cutting is an added bonus. I have an old QL-500 that is still serving me well after many years. I needed an additional unit and am pleased with this unit.

Difficult to use
I already had a QL-550 which I really like so I wanted an upgrade with the color printing option. I am pretty proficient on computers and printers but I have never been able to print in color so I do not use it I went back to my old QL-550. It does do a nice job on regular labels and is very well made as all Brothers printers. Good idea but only 3 stars since it's no more useful than the QL-550

Not that pleased
I found it difficult to set up a label with the multi colors. Forget trying to change existing labels. Had to redo all of my templates. I'm an engineer and understand the concept, but I went back to black n white labels. The manual could be updated to actually show how to create a colored label. Not impressed with P-touch editor.

It's growing on me
I could have used better "getting started" guidance. I am gradually learning learning but I had a heck of a time getting started! But I'm old!
Also, I don't buy the advice to remove label stock from printer when not in use. You waste a label every time you do that. I just leave it in as long as I will be using several times a day.
I found the "import function" and I will eventually learn how to direct the database to various formats. Fun.

Adhesive Labels
I'm very pleased with the QL-800 and the technical support department. Also purchased DK-3235 labels when I purchased the printer. I'm not satisfied with the labels. Using them on Avery 12201 string tags. They don't adhere well and peel off easily. The adhesive is not strong enough.

Nice Label Printer
I like brother products, if you keep a history you can see that I have purchased at least 6 other desktop printers, and some are no longer being supported.
I love my QL-800 as the output looks great! There was a bit of a learning curve
to get the size of the label I needed, but after a few tries, I can print most labels without a problem and not waste the paper as I did in the beginning.
Perhaps the software could be a bit easier to use?

Almost Good
It is easy to use and functions well, EXCEPT . . .
If you want to see BLACK and red on the two color labels, you will be disappointed. A medium dark Chocolate is the best you can get. I have spent hours on the phone with them and that's it. The picture on their box and in their ads are simply not true.
If you don't mind that the QL 800 can't keep track of the number of copies it makes, you'll be fine. BUT, if you want to print 50 labels and the tape runs out, it just quits and tells you you are out of paper. It can not continue on. So you need to count what has been printed an restart printing.
And a few times it stopped printing when I toggled over to another program to work while it was supposed to be printing a large batch. Don't know if it is just that their software isn't set for a Mac?
Works great and fast on regular black labels, which do come out black.

Awesome label printer
The Brother QL-800 is an excellent label maker with a very good selection of label types and sizes. The printer is fast and provides great looking labels. I previously had to unload all of the paper from my regular printer to address envelopes, but that didn't work for larger envelopes and packages. I now have great looking address labels for my envelopes and packages. Another good feature is the software is embedded in the printers memory. I have only one complaint and that is the embedded software does not allow taking advantage of the Black, Red, and White labels. I get a warning in order to print with red I must install PTouch Editor. I already have PTouch Editor that I use for my awesome PT1960 label printer, but it doesn't recognize my new QL-800.

Makes addressing letters easy
In my law office, addressing envelopes was always a hassle because laser printers don't handle envelopes well and you have to open the back of them so the envelope will go straight through. This device makes it easy to put the address on the envelope, directly from Word. The labels look professional and are easy to print.

disappointed in product connectivity with android
I am disappointed in your products inability to easily connect with my android via usb cable. Your tech support was unable to make it work either. i found a work around by accident to get it to work, but have been unable to duplicate the work around so now i am stuck not being able to make if work as advertised... When i connect it to my computer it works fine.but i needed to be able to print remotely. needless to say I am not happy with my purchase. I think if you had the ability to escalate technical issues to a higher tier like most companies we may have found a workable solution. but your tech support person just said that my Galaxy was incompatible and did not support printing through it's USB port... NOT TRUE..

Well, It must be me but I'm having a hard time doing anything. When I try to print something the machine tells me I have the wrong paper. I suppose if I bought enough different rolls of paper I could find a label to print but those things are pricy and I just bought this for home use. However I think this is a good machine if you knew how to use it but it's not right for me.

Good for my purposes
I use the printer for file labels and address labels. I don't do a huge volume, but I need a few new ones every week. This label printer works great for me. It's always ready. I do agree that on occasion the software will reject the red/black paper, but once you have your templates set up, it's not really an issue. I wish I had purchased the version that holds 2 different sizes of paper, that would have been best for me, but this is still ok. Paper is not difficult to change or load.

Overall great thermal printer. We use these at work to print labels and they hold up a pretty long time before the UPC codes become a bit blurry.
