One of the only solutions on the market designed and engineered for compatibility with interactive whiteboard (IWB) models*, the new USB 1.1 Superbooster Extender for Interactive Whiteboards is perfect for extending 1.1 signals up to 40m (131ft) to support interactive whiteboards. Other USB extension solutions use a chipset that is incompatible with interactive whiteboards which can cause dropped signals and/or periodic spikes when the solutions are used together. Our Superbooster allows USB length limitations to be conquered and the interactive whiteboard to be installed in the best location. The booster is powerful yet simple, with no drivers to install or special software required, so it's compatible with any computer that supports USB.
This plug-and-play device consists of a dongle transmitter unit and receiver unit connected together by a standard Cat5, Cat5E, or Cat6 network cable (not included). Simply connect a USB cable from the IWB to the receiver; connect a Cat5 cable from the receiver to the transmitter, then connect the transmitter to an available USB port on the computer and the system is up and running. Bus-powered, it requires no external power source. Instead, the Superbooster has internal DC power conditioning circuits to maintain the proper voltage to the remote device so no external power is required for either the base or remote units. Compliant with USB Specification 1.1.
*Please Note: Promethean recently made a change to the chipset used in its 300 and 500 series interactive whiteboards. This change has created an incompatibility that prevents audio from being carried by this USB extension solution. If an application requires the use of the integrated speakers of the Promethean 300 or 500 series interactive whiteboard, then we recommend the use of our 3.5mm Stereo Audio cables to carry the audio signal. If the application uses an audio system separate from the interactive whiteboard speakers, then this solution will work without any negative performance issues. The power demands of IWB models may require the use of external power for proper operation. Please consult with your device manual or manufacturer for details. During installation, do not connect the transmitter to the PC until all other connections in the system have been made. The other connections in this system would include the Cat5e/6 cable between the transmitter and receiver and the USB connection between the IWB and receiver.
