Rated 5 out of 5 by from Unserviceable B504 error code and ink patches 2 stars removed due to ink patches and longevity issues with recent unserviceable error code, so it's useless now. Print features are good, took a while to get it to print faster, but once I found "dry time" setting in the firmware, it was sufficient - duplex printing and scanning worked well. Ink never printed the estimated pages reported on the packages. Often had ink splotches that required deep cleaning (automatic setting in the printer. I haven't even had this for 2 years and only run about 3000 sheets through it (per the firmware). I recently had an ink cartridge go empty during a print cycle and received error B504. Replaced the ink cartridge, as it states online that the code is due to a dry cartridge (makes sense, since it was empty), but the error persisted after replacement. I called Canon support and they informed me that this model with that error code means it's unserviceable...poor design and the only consolation offered was a 10% discount of a new printer through their "upgrade" program - what a joke!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Potential for a 5-Star Printer The Canon MB5120 has the potential to be a 5-Star rated printer based on quality of print (very crisp for an inkjet, the flexibility (paper size, media tye, duplex printing and scanning), long lasting ink., and speed. However, 2 major deficiencies exist, thus lowering my rating to 3-Stars: (1). The installation can be challenging. I consider myself an expert in IT/ADP and I still had to find a manual "work-around" Canon's "auto WiFi" feature to enable the printer to register on my home WiFi network. A novice or beginner will simply get frustrated. (2). There is no way that I have found to get the Canon MB5120 to print in DRAFT mode on a MAC (OS 10.14.x). This is a simple printer driver programming issue can and should easily be able to be fixed or accomodated. Not being able to print in DRAFT mode uses a lot more ink.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Quality, Great Price This hardy color all-in-one device is great. It's designed for home use, fitting into a corner easily or on top of a desk (check dimensions!!. It's also easy to set this up. Like many folks working from home due to the pandemic, if you are supported by your company's IT, they can do most of the set up remotely, and I only had to remove it from the packaging and plug it in. The device is customizable, for instance you can set it to power on and off automatically. It's also a COLOR printer, copier and scanner (and fax) with very good quality. And the cost per page to print from the cartridges is on the cost effective side. Canon is also well-known brand with a reputation for good customer service. You won't be disappointed with this machine. I have had mine now for 6 months now and no issues yet!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Not the best cannon product for home use only printer worked great untill code 5207 support said can't change ink unless tank is empty. also this is a hard drive error code, they can't help. i could have it repaired maybe but they have no one in this area that works on cannon. cannon is not the excellent brand name it use to be. quiality is poor. this is the second mb 5120 I've had in the last four years. not buying this again.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Is great when it works The pros, good quality construction, built like a tank. Fast as scanning, printing etc.. The downside. Cryptic 5200 error message without any explanation over what it is (with the manual suggesting turning it off and on with the plug pulled out, or talk to a service center. Tried manually replacing the ink cartridges in case that was it, and that didn't work and means I've just wasted another four cartridges of ink. I did consider purchasing another one, but decided against it in the end after a lack of response from Canon support (45 minutes on hold before I gave up. Nearly a week after I wrote an email and no response back). Such a pity. It was a terrific machine for the first three years I had it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Impossible wireless setup. Do not recommend. One continuous issue after another just trying to get it to print wirelessly from either my phone or pc even after running the setup. Too many apps out there in the App Store and they aren’t working for setup, AirPrint not detecting it on the network, after running setup the pc still not detecting it as a printer... Ridiculously non-intuitive when already connected to the network. Wasting hours of productivity to troubleshoot. Would like to be contacted regarding specific solutions. I bought this due to high ratings and expectations have been unable to use it at all. Super inconvenient. Instructions in box and articles online are missing vital information and not at all helpful. Detailed for hardware setup but FAILED beyond that. Did not keep up with technology.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A COVID-19 work from home life saver I have been less than impressed with everything other personal printer I've bought, so when I got the work from home order during Covid-19, I had no printer with a high demand for one that could handle my day to day work orders. I am the glass purchaser for a national window & door manufacturer, and must keep copies of all orders, acknowledgements, and receiving docs. In a weeks time, I have went through 3 reams of paper but only ONE ink cartridge due to the XL black capacity. It keeps up with my needs and scanning is a breeze. I've been so pleased with my purchase that I posted on fb about it, and now all of my work from home friends have to have one too. It's bitter sweet that I made this investment with my own money to be able to continue working, but I am lucky through all this to be safe at home and still earning a paycheck. Thank you for your swift delivery as well, as I couldn't be making it through this pandemic without this product.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works great! This printer is all in one and seems to be better than most printers available to consumers. The print quality is great and it's pretty easy to set up and use. Doesn't seem to use a lot of ink.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Five stars because I can't think of a negative I bought this in March 2022 with the knowledgeable help of Canon's sales department working with me while I shopped on their website. Because I was replacing a 15 year old multipass with a print head that had gone bad, probably from low use, I got a 10%. I placed my order online with the saleperson's help AND got free shipping. Very happy with the printer. Easy to use, and set up, as long as you follow directions. The wifi was a little tricky, but I successfully followed the setup menu. Every device on my home wifi can print to it. When you send a print job over the wifi it will turn itself on, print, and turn off again after 15 minutes of none use. My wife can print from her iPad in the living room! It also has a USB port so I can print from a thumb drive. It will scan and copy 2 sided documents, or copy 2 one-sided sheets onto 2 sides of one sheet. It can fax too, but if I need to fax anything, I just scan it and use an internet fax service because we don't have a landline. So far the the thing I've used it for mostly is printing color glossy vinyl adhesive backed sheets to use for bumper stickers. The large tanks are great so far. I haven't had to change any yet, so I don't know if they present any problems, but I don't anticipate any. Bottom line: It does everything I need it to with no complaints.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fast quiet quality printer but not easy to use I bought this to replace an old HP that had some minor issues. This turns out to be a fast and high quality printer but with some downsides. Everyone you change paper you have to select or add paper the type of paper you are using, which slows you down and the menu for this is not easy. Envelope printing is really a pain and the tray only holds 10 and again you have to select the size from a list of many unrecognizable sizes and if it’s not there, then printing is difficult. The other downside for me is that the paper handler does not copy or scan double sided pages without reloading. My old HP did this easily. At this point, even though it prints well and quickly and quietly, I’m ready to go back to my HZp

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Error Code B504 - Printer is Dead Bought the Maxify MB5120 originally in December 2021 (upgraded to this after owning several prior Canon model printers) - printer failed in June 2022 with error code B504 which can't be repaired by the end user, per Canon. Canon did ship a replacement new printer in June 2022 - that new replacement just failed with the B504 error code! And of course this one is "out of warranty" since the 1-year warranty only applies from the original purchase date. So, despite being a more expensive model, one brand new printer failed at 6 months old and the replacement brand new printer failed after 7 months. Buyer beware! Canon indicates that this error code could mean an issue with a print cartridge - however, they've confirmed there is no way that I can try replacing print cartridges since the printer is designed so that it won't allow you to replace cartridges unless it tells you they are empty. Very frustrating.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Failed Unit stopped printing black ink after just 24 months of light home use. The Canon ink cartridge was not depleted. Canon customer service advised that there is no way to change the cartridge until it is empty and that the unit was not worth repairing. Stupid design. Great features while it worked, but it's unreliable. Do not buy.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Clean Installation, Good Integration The Canon Maxify MB5120 is a recent addition to Canon's lineup of small business/home office multifunction, or All-In-One, printers. Having received a complimentary unit for evaluation the following review is my summary of this device's performance, customer usability and fit for purpose. As multifunction print unit have advanced over the past 10 -15 years the basic end user requirements have remained fairly static. That is, can the device efficiently print, scan, and copy documents, with judicial use of ink, and perform over time with minimal maintenance. More recently, a pervasive requirement has been to print from smartphones, tablets, and an array of notebooks and desktops driven by diverse operating systems. Pressing in these emergent print-from-any-device requirements has been a common, or similar user interface, with minimal relearning or effort to enable device connectivity and print functions. In summary, can I quickly get up and running on each compute device? From the start, unpacking the Maxify MB5120 is straight forward, providing a 'Getting Started' document as the very first visible item once the box is open. Following the graphics and accompanying brief verbiage the unit was quickly uncrated, set in place, and powered-up. Instructions for initial configuration are clear and perform in sequence without a hitch including ink cartridge insertion. Notably, the ink cartridges have been redesigned to make for clean unwrapping and insertion without spills or messy hands. Connecting the Maxify MB5120 to my home wireless network, guided by onscreen instructions, was clear and worked the first time. A vast improvement over earlier models which required more detailed wireless router configuration settings (and a call to Canon's Technical Support Line). Following which I installed the Canon print software on two Windows 10 laptops, one using the provided DVD and the second via software downloads as referenced in the 'Getting Started' website. Both completed flawlessly through to a duplex print test page. Dependant upon your Internet access speed do allow time for the downloads; although commendably the size of the Canon's print software modules are miniscule compared to other equipment manufacturers equivalent modules. I next tested configuring the Canon Print /Selphy app for Android on two smartphones. The addition of the Maxify MB5120 unit to the first smartphone, which previously had the app installed, was quick and easy. This heralds an achievement in Canon's app software in supporting devices from the low end CP1200 up through to this Maxify MB5120 unit. Installing the Canon Print / Selphy app on my second Android smartphone through to first photo print was remarkably quick and flawless. All in all, printer set-up, configuration and basic functionality was near flawless. Paper tray insertion requires a bit of attention and it remains to be seen as to the longevity of tab rising at the backend of the tray. This is a peculiar design which becomes clear once the tray is inserted for the first time. This being the least robust element in the overall unit. On to Canon's print utility suite, it is somewhat disappointing to see that the 'Canon Quick Utility Toolbox' and 'Canon IJ Scan Utility' still appear to be separate applications appearing in separate pop-up boxes. The scan function itself then spawns additional pop-ups with lack of clarity on how to efficiently complete scan-to-save processing. In terms of choosing a location and environmentals, the Maxify MB5120 is a bit noisier and vibrates more than lower end models. So if moving up to this model verify the footprint and placement location. All in all, an excellent installation, configuration and early testing experience for this Canon Maxify MB5120. Small usability issues around desktop software integration, but even these are forgotten after a few passes through the process. An excellent choice for a small/medium office or home office.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love this printer!!! I received a free sample of the product to review and the outcome was fantastic! I love my new canon printer!!. It is fast efficient and easy to use. No more making sure that the printer is connected with a cord to the Internet since it is wireless! I usually do a lot of my work either through my phone or my pad and it`s very convenient to print with the canon printer using wireless!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from As far as Printers go, this one is pretty great! I have been using the Canon printer for almost a month and I feel I can provide a thorough review on its performance. The set up was relatively easy to follow, however I would prefer a user manual rather than download the set up from their website. Also, getting the printer to print from the Wifi was very difficult. I ended up having to buy a printer cable to attach to my PC in order to get my document to print. Also, there was no instruction on how to shut off the printer. Holding down the button for 10 seconds came about through trial and error. The performance of the actual printer is pretty fantastic. The documents print quickly with no skipping in the ink. The quality of the print is very good and the ink cartridge installation was very easy. I`ve printed contracts and manuals in the month that I`ve had the printer and I haven`t had to change the ink yet. The cost of the ink cartridges are pretty expensive but that`s on par with the cost of printing. The printer comes with several scanning applications that leave a lot to be desired. They are pretty rudimentary and left me feeling unfinished with my final project. I much preferred the ease and quality of the scanning application built into my old Epson XP printer. Other than that I am pretty satisfied with the performance of this machine. I also need to mention I received this printer at no cost in exchange for my honest review.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from very pleased with Maxify 5120 Just opened a home business and spent 1st month of use scanning files, some light printing (one ream). Haven't had one misfeed, software works great, interface with computer and internet great, set-up fairly simple. I did a lot of comparison shopping before buying and so far have been rewarded with a fine machine.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Printer! I received the Canon Maxify MB5120 for free to review and give my feed back on how it worked for my printing, scanning needs. I actually was impressed with how easy it was to set up and connect to each of the computers. Printing was fast and had no issues with paper jams which was an issue I had with my previous printer. It scanned clearly and was easy to attach documents to emails. I also printed pictures on picture paper and regular paper to see what the color difference would be. The picture on regular paper came out pretty close to the picture on the computer, the picture that was printer on picture paper came out with a little darker tons but was not enough to not use the pictures. The faces just looked more tan and shadows were a little darker. I would recommend this printer to someone who is looking for a small business printer,it works great for printing graphs and documents.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Printer with great features I received a free sample of the Canon MAXIFY MB5120 for providing an open and honest review of the product. It arrived with (4) ink cartridges, CD, power cord & phone cord. Other than having to remove all the orange tape and protective material, setup was very easy. The digital screen display guided me through the initial setup and was easy to navigate. I never used the CD because it's always been my habit to download the software and latest drivers from the website just in case there's been an update of some kind. I used the wireless LAN connection and even setup my iPhone for mobile printing. This is one of my favorite features. I have hundreds of photos on my iPhone that I can now send to my printer directly. Setup took only a few minutes. Scanning is another great feature that worked great. I can scan to a folder on my computer, USB or email easily. Printing images from my iPhone gave me crisp quality prints. I printed black and white, and in color. Everything was working fine for about 6 days then I received my first error code (7100). I went online and Canon's website advised me to check connections, turn it on and off, and to check for any orange tape that I failed to remove. None of these steps worked. Contacting support was very easy, even on the weekend! They responded the same day and sent me a return shipping label and I returned the printer. About a week later the replacement arrived. I followed the same steps and was able to use all the features without interruption. The second time I tried faxing some documents and it worked great. Overall, I am very pleased with the printer. I would recommend it to anyone who's looking for an great printer.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Maxify MB5120 - Great for Office and Everyday Use! I received a free Canon Printer - MAXIFY MB5120 to review. The set up was fairly easy. The app is easy to download and the instructions are simple. I was able to print from my Mac and Iphone through bother wired and wireless connection. The color quality is amazing! The scanning was okay, it works better with a computer or laptop rather than a phone. I think this is a great product to use, especially in a office setting. You are able to print and copy large quantities of documents and the color/image quality is amazing. The scanning feature can be improved for more accessibility with mobile phones and tablets but works well with computers and laptops. This products does meat my expectations and I would recommend it to my friends and family who own their own businesses. I think this is a great product and am excited to continue using it daily!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best Printer EVER! I received a free Maxify MG5120 to try out and write a review. I can honestly say this is the BEST printer EVER! The printer was super easy to set up and the instructions were clear and easy to follow. Once I installed the CD on my PC my new MAXIFY was ready to use. The touch screen display is AWESOME and with a simple press of a button you can choose between copy, print, scan or fax. I decided to print super detailed images first to test out the print quality and they not only printed quickly but exactly how they looked on my PC screen and not to mention there was ZERO smudging of ink when I wen to retrieve the image. I also tested the air print function using my iphone and it seamlessly connected and printed my selected images. All in all this printer does everything it promises. I was having issues with my previous printer intermittently disconnecting so getting the new MAXIFY was exactly what I needed:)

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fantastic! I love it! Let me start off by saying that I received a free canon printer for review. My old printer happened to be a canon printer as well so I was a bit skeptical about replacing it with this new one, the canon MB5120. It came in a big box. Once I opened the box, the printer was completely assembled minus the paper tray. It came with a one page set of instructions. I had the printer hooked up, powered, and ready to go in about 30 minutes. I probably could have done this faster if I had no interruptions from the family. The setup procedure was basically dummy proof, and a breeze to complete. I have now used used this printer for about 2 weeks and I can easily and confidently say that I love it! Its performance is way better that my previous canon (which I thought was good to begin with). This printer is faster in all ways. It prints faster, scans faster, and faxes faster! It transitions functions easily using the touch screen. I love that you can pre load tons of paper and its hidden in the tray, in the printer. This is a great a feature, because previously my kids would always take the exposed blank printer paper right off the printer so that they could color, which meant that I was always replacing the paper to print. Now they can not see the blank paper so they basically leave the printer alone. I also downloaded the app to print from my android phone and was able to connect to the printer via wifi and print from my cell phone with ease. Over all I highly recommend this printer for home use and also for small business as well. It can handle the demands of any small business.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Quality prints, ideal for crafters! I received this printer as free sample in change for an honest review. The printer is easy to setup for both Mac and Windows programs. Each inkjet cartridge is high quality sealed Canon branded container which is great for refilling. Print quality was exactly what I was looking forward to because I frequently make crafts and send out personal invitations and birthday cards. I would highly recommend this printer for basic stationary use or for someone who is a crafter.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Reliability is the best feature Life is good right now. I am sitting here drinking a cup of coffee in my home office. I have piece of mind knowing that when I hit the PRINT button-- my Canon MAXIFY MG5120 printer in my basement family room will do its job. Prior to being given this Canon to review, I was on my 3rd low quality ink jet. The reliability of the WiFi on the Canon Maxify is truly impressive compared to what I've been working with. WHAT IS THIS PRINTER LIKE? First of all, you need to be sure you have the space to put this printer. It is rather large. It was too big for my desk space-- hence the reason we moved it to a more accessible space in the basement. The screen on the front of the printer is very clear and easy to use. It is self explanatory when you set it up, guiding you through all of the steps. The printer comes with ink and a basic instructions manual. You can also get it online. INK I was impressed with how quickly I was able to set up the ink. All in all, I did it well under 5 minutes (with no leaking or mess!). I looked on Amazon at what it would cost to replace the ink-- and it seems to be pretty standard. WIFI CONNECTION Once I actually set up the WiFi, I've been impressed with the reliability. With that being said, I think Canon could do a better job with their instruction manual. My actual set up process did not mirror the instruction manual at all. I tried to take detailed notes, but the process for installing my personal computer vs. my work network computer was completely different. Setting up my personal computer took me about 10 minutes total (and I am not a wiz kid when it comes to computers). Setting up my work network computer to the printer took me about an hour (and that could be due to firewalls or protective software my work has set up on the computer). PRINT QUALITY My husband and I have both been impressed with the quality. The margins are centered, no smudges or lines and the color has been on-point. PAPER FEEDING I have not had this printer for long, but I have not had any paper feeding issues. The reliability on this printer has been the best feature so far! OVERALL We LOVE our Canon. I was giddy when I got the chance to post my old ink jet to the neighborhood Freebies Facebook page. This is a great printer-- and I look forward to using it for lots of future work and household projects.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Printer! I received the Canon Printer - MAXIFY MB5120 to test and write a review. I received the Canon Printer - MAXIFY MB5120 to test and write a personal review. The box which contained the printer came 10 days ago. The box came from FedEx and was completely secure and intact. No damage to the printer. Upon opening the box the printer was very well packaged. Contents of Box: Getting Started Instructions 1 Getting Started Instructions 2 Manual / CD ROM (Windows) Power Cable and Phone connection for fax Printer Ink Cartridges – Black, Cyan, Magenta, Yellow *** Getting Started 1 provides you with Video Tutorials you can access if needed. I thought this was very helpful since some individuals are visual. http://canon.com/ijsetup also a QR code you can scan with a Smartphone. Upon trying to connect to the http://canon.com/ijsetup - I received “Page Could not Load” in Mozilla, Chrome, and Explorer. I finally got it to work by adding https:// and once loaded remove the “s”, then the setup page loaded correctly. I used Firefox, Explorer, and Chrome to make sure it wasn’t a browser issue. Once all of the items were out of the box, I started with instructions that were provided; Getting Started 1: It was clearly stated and if followed you can get your printer ready to use. I did have difficulty with the printer cartridges. They needed to snap in twice. Therefore, I had to hold the back of the printer to get a good grip to snap them in correctly. The display on the printer did show if they were not snapped in all the way, which I thought was really cool. Paper Tray took me a minute as well before I figured out you have to slide it from the middle, not from the outside edge. Getting Started 2: Once you log into the website you follow the prompts. I used my laptop to install the driver and setup the printer WIFI. Not difficult at all. I tested the QR code and scanned it to see if it went to website and it did. Printer: I loved the fact that you can be sitting in front of your TV and be working and printing at the same time. I was typing homework and was able to print with no problems. When I walked into my office, (where the printer was located), I found the pages on the floor. It must have shot them out of the printer. What power. I extended the tray extension and now they stay in the printer instead of on the floor. Easy fix. Scanning, Copying, and Faxing: The buttons on the printer are pretty transparent; copy, scan, and fax. Use black or color. Easy… I scanned a few documents and they scanned perfectly. I placed a colored pamphlet and wanted it to copy it in black ink only. I just pressed black and it worked. I used the cord for the faxing and plugged into phone outlet, and then pressed the fax button. A template came up on the laptop and I tested it with our office fax. It worked great. Pros: Printer prints fast Works accordingly to instructions Clear print Printer buttons are transparent Easy setup Scanning works Paper Feeder Copying is easy and works great Faxing you need a phone line Cons: Instructions can be made clearer Cartridges are costly Overall, I would buy this product and would recommend this product to a high end user. Not sure if this product is for a college student. I think it would be too costly for a student, but for a small business owner or for someone who has an office in their home and needs a “all in one” printer, this would be perfect.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great All-In-One Printer for Home Office We received a complimentary sample of the Canon MAXIFY MB5120 as a promotional trial in exchange for writing a review. The printer was shipped very quickly in nice packaging and was very easy to setup. We like the high-speed wireless capabilities very much and it small size was a great fit for our home office. The quality of the printing exceeded our expectations as printing text came out crisp and sharp, and printing photos came out vibrant and professional looking. The printing speed was faster than our old printer and we really like the printer`s ability to scan and copy on both sides. We have not tried printing and scanning directly from a tablet or smartphone but look forward to learning how and using that function in the near future. The paper tray that can hold up to 250 sheets of could be larger but overall it is a very nice product for your home office or small business.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Forget my Old Printer! First, let me mention that I was sent a free Canon printer for this review. This was my first experience with a Canon printer and I must say that I have enjoyed using my Canon MB5120. My favorite feature is definitely the touch-screen display, it made the installation process a whole lot easier. The size of the printer is really great for my needs as well because my business requires constant printing and copying. One aspect that I found difficult was getting the scanning feature to work properly. However, this could be due to the settings on my computer. Overall, I have found that I prefer using my Canon MB5120 over my other printer. The Canon is much more efficient and I love the sleek design.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nice new addition to the Canon printer lineup.... I`ve been using this printer for the east 10 days or so and so far it seems to be doing an admirable job. I should mention that I was sent this item for free, in an exchange for a review. The setup was relatively straightforward and quick, but the software download from the Canon website didn`t work properly, so I needed to call their 800 number for assistance. The scanning software is ok, but there's definitely room for improvement (at least for Mac OS users.) They were very helpful though and guided me through all the steps required. The printer is fairly quiet, especially compared to a laser printer. It seems to print and scan at a good pace. The only issue I`ve had so far is that rather than going into a sleep mode after a period of non-use, it seems to turn itself off instead. Not a big deal, but slightly annoying nonetheless. The unit does seem bigger than many other printers in this class, which is a bit unfortunate (my home office is on the small side.) The color touch screen display is a very nice addition however and is very easy to read and use. Overall I`m pretty happy with the unit and look forward to using it. I printed an 8x10 photograph on glossy paper yesterday and I have to say I was very impressed with the results.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Efficient printe...easy setup Overall, I really liked this printer but felt needed more clarity on how to load the paper initially. The bottom shelf would stick out and I tried a couple times before it worked. I should mention I was sent a free printer to use for this review. Setting up the computer was very was and I did it in 7 minutes. Following the instructions to install on commuter and smartphone/tablet was really easy. Even if you aren't the tech savviest person it was really simple. The speed of the printer is incredible as well. I needed to print off pictures for work and it printed in a quick efficient matter. The scanner worked well and easy to setup.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Printer I absolutely LOVE the Canon MAXIFY MB5120 printer. I received this printer as a free sample to review and I am totally in Love with it. The ability to print wireless even if I am outside of the room with the printer is my favorite feature. Although I can’t make it print from farther than my yard so far(that might be due to user error) it still is a GREAT printer. I also like that It was easy to set up and ad to my phone, tablet, laptop and desktop in order to print from them. I no longer have to connect each device to the printer so printing documents is a quick and easy task. The ink replacement is also economical which is a plus. I HIGHLY recommend this printer to anybody that is looking for a printer for their home or business!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent printer/scanner, setup difficult I received a free sample of this printer/scanner to review, and overall I am very happy with it. Getting it set up was a time-consuming and frustrating process, though, and so this is one area that Canon could focus on testing and improving. Once I got through that process, I found both the printing and scanning features easy to use, and of very high quality output. I do a lot of high-resolution scanning for online sales, and the scans that it produces are both of superior quality and easy to work with. Printing, as well, produces visually superior quality prints when compared to the printer I replaced with this model, and the printer readily accepts different qualities and weights of paper for special projects. In summary, an excellent machine that just needs to have a little more effort put in to simplify the setup process.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I recommend this Printer! I received a free sample in exchange for writing a review. The printer seems like it is high quality and dependable. Setup and directions were fairly easy to follow, and I was ready to use it within an hour. The printer is a bit bigger than other in home printers I have used int he past, which is both good and bad. Even though it takes up more space, it seems like it will handle the work load I need it to for business use. I like the look of the printer, and I am hoping it lasts for quite a while. I know Canon has a great name for itself, so it's nice to have a quality, brand name product to relay on (I have purchased other in-home printers, which have broken after several months of light use). I would recommend trying this printer for printing, scanning, and faxing.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I gotta say this is better than i expected! I used the Cannon printer MaxifyMB5120 It was sent to me to review although it gets an overall 8 on a 1 to 10 scale for what i was using it for and the price. It prints pretty fast color and black & white, it faxes well and copies fast it pretty responsive although it did jam up on me twice for no good reason. Its a very nice design, compact for the punch. The price point is good and the ink seems to be holding up well. I would definitely recommend this to family and friends and as amatter of fact we ordered one for the office. Thanks Cannon great work!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Printer for Tablets and Phones I was sent this printer as a free sample to review and found it to be very easy to setup and use. This printer is very responsive, printing jobs are fast, and can be done from numerous devices. I love that I can seamlessly print from all my electronic devices instead of just my computer. I have printed more jobs from my tablet and phone than I have computers. It is just as responsive with the electronic devices as it is with the computer. I am used to laser jet printer and preferred it over inkjet because of the responsiveness of the laser jet printers and the crispness of the print quality. This one outperformed my laser jet that I just purchased last year, in responsiveness and the print quality was just as clear.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great MAXIFY MB5120 Product I received a free Canon Printer - MAXIFY MB5120 to review and found the following: (1) The box was sturdy with proper weight. The package was beautifully done. (2) All ink cartridges, the CD-ROM installation, and the power cable were clearly marked. There was no USB connection cable, however. As other products did the same. The main concept was you can set it up wireless. (3) On the installation of the cartridges, it is pretty straightforward. You performed per on-screen dashboard command. One thing that needs to improve is that if there is some arrows printed on the cartridges to clearly point to which direction the ink should be inserted, then it would be great. (4) As I connected the MAXIFY MB5120 directly to my desktop via USB cable, so the process went smoothly. You do not need to connect the USB cable to the USB port of the desktop right away. You wait for the instruction on the screen to tell you when you hook up the USB cable. (5) There are many ways to setup which was a big surprise to me. After I setup through the USB cable, I enabled the wireless function on the printer itself. I then downloaded the Canon MAXIFY app on my iPad, and voila, within seconds, the two devices talk and I can print wirelessly from iPad to the printer. Even if you have a document stored on the thumb drive, you can plug the thumb drive in, select on the screen options, and you can print the document right there without plugging the thumb drive to your desktop and then print from there. (6) On the desktop utility called "Canon IJ Scan Utility," the amazing things that surprised me from this utility are: (a) it gives you the freedom to setup how you want your scanned document/photo goes; and (b) whether you want to encrypt it or not for security. You can also setup the OCR, Email, and so forth. In short, it is a very good color inkjet printer. You can do lots of things right on the printer dashboard, wirelessly via your mobile devices, or via your connected laptop/desktop. It is a duplex printing machine. Some minor things that need to improve are: (a) the directional arrow should be printed in the ink cartridges; and (b) the reduction of the printing noise and the shaking act before the document is printed out. Other than that, it is a very good and flexible color printer. It gives you everything you need. It is truly a revolution in printing capabilities! Thanks, Tony L.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Features !! amazing response with cell phone I received Canon MAXIFY MB5120 as a part of a promotion in exchange for writing a review. Overall the printer was easy to setup. The only hassle that I had to deal with was taking out the orange plastic holder, in order to install the cartridges. I was able to connect the printer to home wifi as well as mobile hotspot. For some reason, it did not connect to the unsecured xfinity hotspot. I was able to print documents using CANON PRINT APP from my cell phone, which was very impressive. It is a decent office size printer with an excellent response time. The print quality is good and the colors look natural. Scanning documents was a breeze, but once I went beyond 600ppi, the document size became huge. Overall I will recommend this printer to anyone who has a small office/business.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great color MFP As a disclaimer, I have received this printer free of charge for this unbiased review. The printer came in its original retail box and I was very excited to get it up and running. After unboxing it, removing the tape that was holding the doors and lids together I quickly installed the drivers and software from the accompanying CD. The inter-phase of the application was well designed and navigating through the menus of the printer felt natural and intuitive. The companion Canon app that I installed on my Android smart phone helped me do wireless printing with ease. I really liked the quality of the printed pages in both color and black & white. Of course as expected, the black & white pages come out much quicker, but color prints also came out really fast and with brilliantly sharp color and contrast. Overall I really like this printer and its scanning/copying functions. I have not had the chance to test out the faxing capabilities, but that is because I do not have a phone line at my house to send out faxes. Emailing scanned documents, making copies and printing high quality photos worked like a charm. As far as I'm concerned, there's not much else one could ask for.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Solid all-around home/small office inkjet printer I received the Canon Maxify MB5120 for free in exchange for writing an honest review--which I am committed to doing. I'll begin by saying upfront that this is a very nice, solid, high-functioning printer. I have encountered no issues after setup in terms of quality or usability, and I have used just about every feature included on it except for the fax function. I would give this a 4 out of 5 stars for being high quality and encompassing almost everything that a small office would need. Setup wasn't easy, and I wish the tray would allow for larger paper or have a bypass-tray function. SETUP: I found this to be a pain point with the Canon Maxify. It took me about 2 hours to get it unboxed, assembled, and running wirelessly. I found the instructions a bit confusing at points and had to turn to an online guide/video at 2 different times for additional support. It also isn't very helpful when you're connecting wirelessly--it gives you a URL to begin, but doesn't indicate how long it might take or that different sites and drivers are needed for different operating systems. Once you get past setup, everything is good. QUALITY: Definitely high quality. I am a graphic designer and I use this printer for hard-copy proofing as well as using photo-paper for nicer prints. I am impressed with the dots per inch, and I appreciate that pages come out dry and don't flake/smudge. CAPABILITY: In general, good. I appreciate the double-sided printing, the scanning, and while I don't use faxing I'm sure it would benefit most small offices. I wish you could print on tabloid (11" x 17" but the largest size you can do is legal.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works well...when it works While the print quality of the printer is great, it is a problem-child for our small organization. If any ink runs out (color it will cease printing in black & white only -- after speaking with a Canon support person I understand the reason is based on the design but it is annoying. After a year, the print quality fades and now the printer begins to print blanks pages even with sufficient ink and several print head cleaning cycles. I appreciate past Canon products purchased but this particular one is just too problematic for our use.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fast and crisp prints! I've had my MAXIFY MB5120 for about 3 weeks now and it's great! It prints quickly, even right after powering up. I love the double-sided scanning too because it makes that normally slow process really quick. The print quality is excellent as well.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Super easy to use! I received this item as a free sample to try out, and I can honestly say I love it. It is very user friendly, easy to setup, and has wonderful features. Setting this printer up was a breeze, I will say that the only difficulty I had was with the ink cartridges. They would not go into their respective slots for me. My wife had to give me a hand with this. The wireless print option is fantastic. The fact that I can print a picture out from my phone is incredible. I work from home a few days a week and regularly need a printer to print out multiple graphs and contracts, this printer has not let me down once! The ink quality is outstanding. Another thing I love is that I can scan and upload documents from my computer. I have to keep a lot of things on file or send them to my boss and the scanner feature works very well. I would say, overall, the ink setup and wait time for setup could be improved. But over all, this is a great printer. Best I've ever used.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Overall very happy & very pleased with this model! I received a free Canon Maxify MB5120 in exchange for writing a review. I honestly really like this printer/copier/fax! It was very easy to set up and use. I was printing pictures wirelessly from my iPhone and documents from my laptop within minutes of setting up the printer. It printed fast and the images were crisp and clear. I love that this is an all in one because one great little device now replaces my copier and fax as well. If I had to pick out features I would change it would be to have the option to tilt the screen so no matter where the machine is placed I could see it and the other would be to have the option of not having the machine turn off automatically after a certain amount of hours. Overall very happy and very pleased with this model!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Print from your phone! I received a sample of the Maxify Canon Printer to preview and to give an honest review. I disconnected my current printer with the idea that I would only use the Maxify copier for a short time, because of how happy my family has been with their current printer. That is certainly not the case the Canon printer hooked up easier than any other printer that I have used it the past. The best feature of the printer is how fast of a printer it is for a home/small business printer. I saw my time expenditure reduced immediately! I was able to print from my iphone instantly! That was incredible! Being able to print from your phone was so incredible. In the past I would email myself and go to my laptop and then print remotely or through a hard connection. This took so much time. Not any longer! What a great addition to mine and my family's need!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easy Set-Up, Seamless Wi-Fi Integration As a small business owner who works primarily from home, Cannon sent me a MAXIFY MB5120 printer to review. I was pleasantly surprised to see that the printer was easy to unpack and was up an running in a few minutes. The printer came with a full set of ink cartridges that lasted for several hundred pages. I was able to install and set up the computer through my wi-fi network - no need to attach my laptop via USB, although that is an option. Once it was set up, the printer integrated seamlessly on my wi-fi. Printing from my laptop (Windows, my husband's Mac, or my iPhone was easy. The only thing I would note is that you will need to look at the print settings if you use a Mac. The printer did not default to "collate" or to auto-select portrait/landscape. Color printing offered good color quality, although I noticed that the Cannon colors were a little darker than the other printer I normally use. One area that could use improvement is the scanning memory. Even set to the black and white option, the scans took significantly more memory (6-10 times the memory) than my other scanner. While scanning both sides of the page at once is a nice option, I'm not sure it justifies the file size.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A real contender! Review – Canon MAXIFY MB5120 This is a solid printer! I have a long history with a different popular, well-known manufacturer’s printers, and this printer is a contender. Quiet, fast, and quality is equal-to or better-than what you would expect from a printer of this caliber. I did NOT install the software for the printer on my Windows 10 computer as I try to limit the number of applications on my computers. Windows 10 did have drivers for the printer and scanner native to Windows 10. I also tested from my Android 4.4 phablet, and did download and install the app/drivers for Android. Printing from both devices was easy and convenient. I do not have a land line, so I was unable to test the fax capability. I also did not enable the device’s cloud services. PROS 1. Well packaged and easy to unpack and physically set up. 2. Cartridges were easy to install. 3. WiFi setup was intuitive and easy. 4. 250-page paper capacity is convenient – don’t have to reload paper as often as other printers. 5. Copying was fast and quality was good. 6. 2-sided scanning was a bonus – scanning from the document feeder allows for scanning both sides of the source document at the same time. Unexpected, and a real point of differentiation for this device. This was the most exciting feature for me. 7. Printing was easy and fast. 8. Printing from a USB stick worked very well. I printed pictures and was able to preview the pictures on the device’s display. CONS 1. The manuals that came with the device are confusing. The goal was to produce a single installation guide that covered all operating systems – Windows, OS X, iOS and Android (no instructions for Linux). That goal caused the “Getting Started” guide to be confusing and very hard to follow. I finally gave up and figured out how to set up the cartridges and WiFi settings on my own. 2. The touchscreen menu is easy to read, but it requires scrolling multiple screens to see all options and is not very responsive to touch. Less scrolling and more layered menus would work better for me. 3. The default power saving behavior is to power the printer off after a period of inactivity. I had to print something quickly but was thwarted when I had to wait for the printer to go through its startup sequence and then it decided to do some cartridge alignment or cleaning. I finally found the option to not have the printer power off, and now first page out on a print or copy job is VERY fast. CONCLUSION I would recommend this device to anyone who needs a solid device with good quality and a broad feature set at a competitive price. The pros far outweigh the cons. When setting up this device, be sure to leave extra time to work though the manuals and everything will fall into place. DISCLAIMER I received this device for free in return for an honest and open review. The opinions and observations are my own, and accurately reflect my experience with the device.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Digitally Innovative I've been looking for a printer that has wireless capabilities and innovative digital features for a while. I'm happy to write a review of my experience with this printer in exchange for a free sample. I used this for various tasks for about a week, starting with the assembly of it, which probably intimidated me the most, as I really don't like putting things together and easily get frustrated with complicated instructions. However, the instructions were simple enough and straightforward that I was able to figure it all out and assemble in less than a half hour. Once I got it up and running, it was off to the races. My wedding is right around the corner, so I was eager to try its scanning ability. I scanned about 50 photos for a digital slideshow and it was seamless, popping up right away and enabling me to quickly save and move on to the next. Then, I was eager to try the wireless printing, as it's something I've always wanted to do but have only had tethered printers. I was pleasantly surprised by how easy it was! With the software installed, it was literally a few clicks and boom, printed. I'm obsessed with being able to print things from my phone or laptop from any room in the house. It's become my favorite feature. Style-wise, the printer is sleek and sophisticated looking and fits in with the rest of my decor. It isn't too heavy or bulky like some of the others I've owned. I love the touch buttons and all of the functionalities it has to offer. The only thing is that I would have preferred it in white to better match the room it's in, but it's definitely not a deal breaker.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Solid, if quirky, small office printer I was excited and glad for the opportunity to try out this printer risk-free and have a chance to review it. On the whole, the printer is solid and has a lot going for it. However, it is not without its shortcomings. It has all the functions a small business or a heavy personal user may need. Being able to print from a mobile device was a primary draw at the outset. Likewise, the unique ink cartridges that would last longer than the smaller models in previous printers that I have owned were very appealing. PROS - Setup is fairly straightforward and quick on the hardware end. I had it out of the box and all functions in use right away. - The print quality is great for an inkjet printer. Documents look crisp and professional. - Scans come through fast and clean. - The flexibility of being able to print from mobile devices was a good but not great asset; wireless printing in general is of course a big plus. - The adjustable paper tray was an interesting bonus for a tabletop printer. CONS - The mobile device printing could use some work. It was disappointing to have this be a big draw and have it be as slow to print and confusing to set up as it was. - Photo printing was not as good as I had hoped for. It was vibrant but not as crisp as I expected from the product, especially given how slow the pages are to print. - The adjustable paper tray was a neat asset but it killed the sleek aesthetic and the sturdy footprint of the printer. I found myself wondering if I had installed it incorrectly because it looked so out of place. As I said earlier, on the whole, the printer does what it says it does and does so mostly well. Aside from the notable disappointment in print speed, it is pretty decent. I give it a B+ with the raise of an eyebrow on the pricetag.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easy set-up, great quality! I received a free Canon Maxify MB5120 to test in exchange for writing this review. I was previously using another Canon model but must say that this model is truly an upgrade. I do a moderate amount of printing as I frequently work from home, and I also do quite a bit of printing for personal use. This printer/scanner/fax machine has been a joy to use. It was very easy to follow the set-up instructions for connecting it to my Wi-Fi. The speed of the printing is fast and the quality of the resulting printouts are very professional looking. I have been using it almost daily for a few weeks and the ink still appears to be full. My sixth-grader has been able to print from her iPhone and iPad with no problems. I have easily been able to scan documents so that I could fax from my laptop. I had a slight problem once when trying to remove a paper jam from the back of the printer. The instructions did not seem to match the equipment but I was able to figure it out within a few minutes. Overall, I love this printer and its ease of use and capabilities.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A Perfect Printer This Canon Printer is absolutely amazing. I received a free sample of this item, but I would of more than willingly paid the price for this printer. When I initially open the box all the instructions needed was included. You could also go to the website and follow the instructions there or follow along the video instructions on the website. When I started to set up the printer, all the cables are included accept the USB connection cable. That was my preferred method to set up the printer. But there are other options to set it up. You can set it up wireless to your router or the direct connection. As I set up the printer, to my amazement there are also detailed instructions on the printer LCD display screen that you can cycle through. You are definitely held by your hand to assist you in setting up the printer and that should make it easy for anyone. Once the set up was complete, I was ready to get things started. I first copied a page that was in color and the page colors came out crisp and vibrant, The same can be said when I printed and scanned pages. The black type print out was also crisp and clean. I was very impressed with the print out copies. I also downloaded the Canon app for my iPhone and iPad. Wow what flexibility! The set up and connection was easy on the Canon app. To be able to AirPrint and print directly from the Canon app is unreal. I am truly spoiled with my options to print. It definitely make working from home easy and pleasurable. Also the option to Fax is very helpful not to mention it is quite fast. This Canon printer exceeds my expectation. I have had a Dell printer and Epson printer in the past. This printer surpasses both in every way. This is a very high quality printer you are getting for your money. I have always heard good things about Canon printers and now I can see why. I can not think of anything i would change about the printer. It is perfection in every way. The only thing I would change is to include the USB connection cord. But because of the high quality of the printer, that is something I can overlook. I would recommend this printer to my family and friends. I never thought a printer could be perfect in every way, but now I know it is possible.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A practical solution that meets most expectations As a real estate agent, I was looking for a printer that could deliver higher quality graphic printed sales materials, as well as being able to quickly scan and print multi-page documents with reliability and speed, all while being economical to operate. Because I am not in the business of setting up and maintaining printers, I needed a system that is intuitive in its system design and functionality. For full disclosure, I wanted to mention that I did receive this printer in exchange for my honest review. Experience Right out of the Box. In the past, I have had my husband set up my printers, but I really wanted to give this one a go on my own. The printer arrived well packaged and in great shape. Getting the printer out of the box was a little difficult for me, but would have been a breeze if I had seen that the plastic wrap it was encased in was designed with "handles" -- so be sure to take advantage of those for easy lifting. I managed to get through the process of unpacking, loading paper and ink with little difficulty, but found the instructions to be poorly worded, awkwardly translated, and unnecessarily confusing. To set up the computer, you must try to coordinate the written, poster-size paper instructions, refer to the online manual, and address messages on the on-screen instructions without any clear indication or prompting as to which of the three you are supposed to refer to at any given time. I finally had to give up my hope of independence and refer to my household computer guru when trying to figure out how to configure connecting the printer to LAN through our password-protected router. After searching online sources, he was able to do so, but assured me that the instructions were not adequate and difficult to follow, even for the more experienced. Overall, I give the printer low scores on creating intuitive instructions. While customizing more advanced settings, we also found it difficult to navigate the online manual and follow instructions for, what should have been, other simple system set up tasks. Adding a settings button the the printer's Home Screen, could allow for one to navigate settings and address Quick Utility Toolbox Functions without so much difficulty. From reading other reviewers, you can add me to a long list of frustrated souls stuck in long loops of confusion during the set up process. But was it worth it . . . Document print quality was more than adequate and speedy . . . just make sure you have your printer on and adjust the settings so it will be on when you need it to be. If the printer must be turned on, you will wait just under a minute before your copy is done. Once the printer is on, copies are done in a jiffy. The document print quality is very good. Loved the ease of the auto-feeder for scanning and printing. Smooth sailing! Scanned and emailed 20-25 page documents with no trouble. Loved the speed of the no-hassle, two-sided scanning and copying. Photo reproduction. Photo scanning and printing was more of a mixed bag. I found the red tones on scanned documents were poorly reproduced and appeared muddied in print (see photo), while color reproduction from photo files was much better. Black and White photos printed nicely on matte photo paper. Also found the photos printed on the supplied Canon photo paper turned out pretty true to color. Subtle contrast in photos was lost, but overall, I felt the photo options were certainly adequate for creating everyday color flyers and brochures. I haven't had the printer long enough to comment on the economics of the per page cost. If the printer performs as promised, I'll be a happy camper. Overall, the printer seems to be a practical solution for the small office environment and seemed to meet most of my expectations.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Printer I received a free sample of this printer to review honestly. I think this printer is fantastic! Very concise and easy to use set up software. Prints, copies and scans very clearly and crisp. Colors are spot on. Very user-friendly. The size seemed very big at first but I placed it the same spot my smaller Canon printer was in and the width was same & fit perfectly. Great home or small amount office printer.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Better than our laser printer I received this as a free sample to try. My husband swears by our laser black and white printer and was not happy when I switched out our printers. But after I set it up - which was quite seamless, and used it a few times - he was hooked, as was I. It prints so quickly and clearly, but of course in color. I have not looked into refilling the ink cartridges which could prove to be an issue - but overall am very pleased with the quality of this product. Cannot wait to try printing invites on this!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing printer I cant say anything bad about this printer. It is quite amazing. The only problem is there is no way to avoid border. Other than that i am happy with it printing from smartphones and PCs.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Multi-Features Printer I received a free sample of this Canon Printer- Maxify MB5120 to test out at home in exchange for posting a review regarding my overall opinion, and I couldn't be more satisfied with it. The printer has the most up to date functionalities and capable of providing almost all the tasks needed in an office setting. Such as, practical size to fit almost anywhere in your home or work office, low cost per print, all ink available is XL which helps you save time and money, modern looking, Wireless Connection, Print, ability to make Copies, ability to scan documents, ability to fax documents, ability for Mobile Device Printing, and Label & Envelope Printing. This multi-functional Printer is efficient and reliable. I am very satisfied and pleased with its performance which makes my life so much easier. Product performs well between all these functions mentioned above. My favorite feature is scanning documents to email with ease. There really wasn't much of a product assembly and it connected to my Wireless Internet quickly. This produce exceeds my quality of expectations because of its multi-functionalities available. There is nothing I would like to see improved on this product. I would definitely recommend this product to my friends and family. Overall, my impressions of this product are very positive and I am satisfied with it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great features and fast printing from this inkjet. In exchange for writing this review I received the Canon Maxify MG5120 printer. First off, this is an all-in-one printer, with Fax, Scan, and Print functionality out of the box. Setup - while a CD came with the printer, Canon also provided a link to the software on the instruction booklet. Given the computers no long have CD's I am surprised they send them out anymore. Installation of drivers and utilities takes about 5 minutes. It can attach to an in home router via LAN or Wireless. Touch screen panel allows for additional settings to be configured. Placement of the 4 inkjet cartridges was straight forward, however, you have to ensure they click in for the printer to recognize them. Loading paper - tray that comes with the printer has an adjustment from small print to legal size. To load 8.5 x 11 paper, you have to push down the plastic to adjust the tray to load paper. Not as easy as it seemed, however. Printing - this printer can print black or color prints and compared to past inkjet printers I found it very quick. You can print connected via USB or network printing via LAN or wireless, works the same regardless. Fax - since I don't have a land line I was unable to test this feature. Scanning - Canon installs a scan utility as part of the driver/utility download and you can scan to PDF, scan to Email, etc. I scanned a document to PDF and it defaults to dual size scanning which I was pleasantly surprised it included. You can also use an iPhone, an Android phone, to print directly to the device but I did not test that feature. Overall very impressed with the quality and features of a next generation inkjet printer. I would recommend this to family and friends if they are looking to buy a new printer.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Fast Working Device I am reviewing the Maxify MB5120 that received as a sample to review and rate. I would honestly have to say that this printer is one of the best and easiest I have used in a long time. The set up was so easy I tried to mame myself believe I was doing it wrong. Overall, I absolutely love this printer because it works fast to print, the faxes are processed extremely fast the accessibility of printing using WiFi is great!!! My only issue was I have an older model IMac that I was unable to set up to print from which I use this computer a lot. I love the size of thw device and the fact that there were very many cords to connect. The Cannon Maxify MB5120 is great!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Performance lacking - not what a printer should be After much research in the Canon line of printers, I thought this would be the best one. Sadly, I'm disappointed. First, like other reviewers have said, the machine is noisy. There is actually a "quiet" setting that you can turn on but the machine is still noisy. For example, I can no longer print or run a scan while I'm on speaker phone or they can't hear me and I can't hear them due to printer noise. Set up on a wireless network was easy. Scanning and copying even black and white documents go at a snail's pace - nothing compared to the fast scanning of your MX882. Scanning anything in color requires you to up the 200 dpi to something much higher to get even a resemblance and the quality of the original, thus increasing the size of the document to much larger than it has to be. Again, NOTHING compared to the scan image quality of your MX882 at 150 dpi. I have since discovered that not having 2 paper trays makes trying to print a simple envelope into a time-consuming job. You have to take out the paper tray, remove all the paper, set all the flimsy paper guides to fit your envelope then hope you get the paper tray back into the machine WITHOUT IT BREAKING then print your envelope THEN reload your 250 pages of paper, reset all the flimsy paper guides and get back to your important tasks. The paper tray (the item you will use most on any printer is made up of very flimsy plastic and is EASILY breakable. The machine itself is sturdy and of quality construction but the document feeder flip-top and the paper tray flip-top, the paper tray itself and the paper guides could have been better if made with toothpicks than this cheap construction. I get it Canon, you need parts to break so you can keep a steady income. The ink cartridges (if you buy the XL) are bigger tanks (for more $$$). I've been watching the ink tanks that came with my printer purchase (not XL) dwindle since Day 1. I'm not convinced that the XL cartridges will save me money in the long run. When it comes down to it, it's another printer that is more expensive, more expensive ink tanks and is not going to last - again NOTHING like the MX882 that never failed until the inside chamber became filled with used ink and forced us to take it apart, clean it out and find the codes online to reset it so it would work again. I'm so disappointed in the lack of speed and the quality of scanning in the MB5120 that I have kept "Old Bessie" my MX882 up and running to use its scanning capabilities and use one of its trays to print envelopes. Another detriment to the MB5120 is that you cannot use this as a wireless printer for the whole house because you have to manually control the control panel. For example, if you want to run a simple copy, you have to manually go to the control panel to choose "copy" and only then can you choose to copy black & white or color. Another example, if you choose to quickly scan a document (first of all "quickly" is not a word for this machine) you have to choose the "scan" button from the control panel and then find your computer on the network and only then can you scan a document. This is maddening in comparison to your workhorse the MX882!! What's worse is Canon REQUIRES you to divulge system information to them by WiFi or you can't use the printer on your network. Why can't anyone allow us privacy anymore? And no, I'm not doing anything illegal or immoral, it's the point that Canon doesn't give you an option for privacy. To sum up my review, Canon - BRING BACK AN UPDATED VERSION OF YOUR MX882 OR JUST BRING IT BACK PERIOD!!!!!! A very disappointed loyal customer.
