Promised up to 400 pages, only got half.
I was only able to print about 200 pages. I ran out of ink after two days of usage. I was hoping to do the heavy printing ahead of time and save the rest for small jobs, but I couldn’t even finish my heavy printing.

I bought this and I am disappointed in how long it lasted. I only use this printer to print shipping labels and I was surprised to print the other day and it said it was low and needed replaced. It is not that old and I haven't printed over 20 labels with it. At $40+ I would hope it would last longer. This is the second time this has happened. These ended up being very expensive shipping labels.

I do quite a bit of printing at home, as a school teacher, and the 61 XL cartridge really does last longer. The print is always clear and accurate. The color cartridge is bright and brilliant. I also love that a recycle bag is included to put the used cartridge in the mail back to HP.

The Cartridge doesn’t work
I have had a Deskjet 3050A for many years. Originally, it used HP 61 ink cartridges. At some point they switched their black ink to the 61XL cartridge. I guess they wanted me to throw away my old printer because I’ve never been able to get the new cartridge to fit.

Terrible. I put in the new cartridge as I usually do and it printed dark black as usual. A week later, I tried to print another document and it was a med to light gray tone. I shut off the printer, turned it back on, reinstalled the cartridges (black and color) that you sent me, and it still was light gray. This was horrible as I needed a good cartridge. I am so upset that I paid so much for two supposed new cartridges. I trusted you that they would be good and as I get ready to purchase a new printer I am now very leary of HP because of this incident.

I have an aged HP Deskjet 3510 I use for personal documents. It's a reliable workhorse that I use only HP ink cartridges.The occasional problems I have with it are caused by WI-FI. They are simple to handle and replacing the cartridges is a fast and easy push-in. I like that I don't have to have a color cartridge installed if I want to print black only, although when i need color, it's the same convenient size cartridge next to the black.. The 61XL black usually lasts me longer than I expect. But I always keep a spare. I would like to see HP give more competitive discounts on HP ink cartridges. Other than that, I'm satisfied with the really good reliable quality and performance.

It was very disappointing. I installed the new ink cartridge and immediately it said it needed to be replaced. I made sure it was seated correctly as well as I tried a couple of other things. I reinstalled the cartridge a couple of times but it kept saying the cartridge needed to be replaced.
I was on a tight deadline and this made me miss their deadline. I also lost the future contract for doing additional jobs for them.

It didn’t work!
I bought the 61XL black ink cartridge and my HP Envy rejected it and would not print! I bought another cartridge (not through HP) which it accepted. I ended up spending $80+ to get one working cartridge. A very expensive experience, to say the least. Not sure I’ll buy another cartridge from HP again.

Errors of wrong cartridge annoy
Idk why, but when I use HP cartridges, I get errors that the cartridge is not the right kind. It takes up much time (and ink) because my printer wants to run an alignment print multiple times, plus I must unplug and go through multiple steps to eventually get it to work. VERY frustrating! Once it works, it's fine, though sometimes it needs replaced even though it indicates the cartridge is half full.

The cartridge arrived quickly. It was a critical replacement. Once installed I found it didn’t work. It seemed like it was empty. But the printer tried to print. HP had no way to get a fast replacement. I went to Target for a new one (which did work).

This HP 61 XL cartridge was horrible - as were several more before it. Whether purchased retail from a big box or directly from HP, HP's ink cartridges do NOT work in HP's own printer products. I am out the cost of a printer as well as hundreds of dollars in worthless HP ink cartridges and loss of work and personal time fighting the printer cartridges and HP technical people who could not fix or understand their own product.

I bought this simply because the 61 cartridge was unavailable . I only use my printer occasionally . With your timing to stop cartridge working after a time most of this ink will go to waste and thus my money is wasted. I hope the smaller cartridge will return before I have to reorder. Defective Cartridge
When I received this ink cartridges that I ordered from the hp website, it was defective. I've ordered this exact cartridge from Amazon and Walmart and had no issues with its performance, so I know that it isn't user error. I reached out to customer service and there was no resolution. I was hoping to get my money back or be sent a cartridge that works since the product I bought was defective. I likely will not be ordering from the hp website again after this experience.

What can I say? I needed to replace my ink cartridges; my printer takes HP-61 cartridges, so that's what I purchased. It's not as though I had any choice in the matter. I don't know why these things should cost $40-$50 each, but it is what it is. I guess you can do that when you have a "captive market."

It’s very overpriced and the quality is just okay. I could have gotten it cheaper with the same quality from a different store. The real reason I even ordered it was to alleviate an argument with my father-in-law about how the only ink that works has to be from the HP store. Next time I will buy it elsewhere and tell him it was from the HP store and save money.

It works well, but it doesn't last long enough, and it's far, far too expensive. I don't print very often, but if I was using it for work or school, one of these cartridges would only last a few weeks. For what they cost, they should last much longer.

We have an older HP 4630 printer which still works well. The 61XL cartridge is difficult to find in office supply stores in this area. HP online had that item as both single, or double pack at a slightly lower price. Package arrived on time.

Expensive But Good Quality and Service
I've been using HP ink from the beginning and have always had good results. I don't have to do very much printing, so longevity of the ink cartridge is important to me. I've had the cartridge stop working when the app showed plenty of ink left in the cartridge; I'm not sure why that happens but I'm willing to cut HP some slack because of the time factor. I'm not sure whether this is a problem with the cartridge or my printer, quite frankly.

I am a senior, longing for the good days when I could refill ink cartridge myself. HP Ink cartridges are too costly for seniors. My family has 2 HP printers - one is on HP Instant Ink program, the other not. Instant Ink confines one to regular, constant numbers of pages.The regular printer allows me to occasional heavy usage. I wish HP will return to "refillable" cartridges.

I've had my HP printer for a long time and it still works really well. Quality of the HP ink is great. I've used other brands and while the cartridges are cheaper they don't last as long, so I use HP. I wouldn't bother with the regular size black unless you hardly ever print.

This is the best way to go with ink cartridges. Buy the OEM (original equipment manufacturer) cartridges. I have tried several non-original ink refill cartridges and they are a pain in the butt. Yes they are cheaper, but they are not worth the headaches. Ohhhhh they aren't working?? well "shake them up".... ohhhhhh that didn't work? …. well ….. sit the ink side of the cartridge on a paper towel soaked with alcohol.... ohhhhhhhhhhhh that didn't work? well.... try the auto clean feature on your printer (which eats up your ink in the other cartridge)...…..ohhhhhhh still no ink.... well..... we'll send you another one.... hope you didn't need to print anything today... … The OEMs are no problems like those..... snap them in.....away you go! The XL cartridge lasts me about a year, so I am happy with that. thank you HP :-)

I own and operate a drafting office. We use quite a bit of ink on large scale plans. After a number of years using cheap ink refills, and having to thoroughly de-clog my print heads numerous times, I now use only HP cartridges. HP actually engineers their inks for the print heads that deliver them, including the ink viscosities. This is not done on the cheap refills, and while low in cost, those off-brand inks were consistently much shorter in life and problematic for my print heads. Over the past several years, I haven't run anything through my printers and plotters except genuine HP ink and I can see a very clear difference in quality.

Something seems off with the ink cartridges. I have purchased both that normal ink cartridges and the XL versions. They both seem to not last as long as they used to. I used to be able to use them way beyond the “ink low warning”. Now they seem to almost occur at the same time. i.e. I get the warning and can almost instantly not print. I have been happily using HP products for years. Something has changed!!

Trapped in a limited selection
I have an HPOfficeJet which I purchased years ago. They offered an update and I did not understand all the verbose wordage. I acquiesced to limiting my choices of cartridges to those manufactured by HP. A generic would not print.
I could not go back. To assuage me they offered a coupon with which I purchased three HP black XL cartridges. Since I just turned 90 they may last a lifetime. I do very little with the printer. I use it to copy the daily menus at the senior facility where I reside.

Product is necessary to use my HP printer. I have had friends try other, rebuilt, cartridges, but they claim they don't work on genuine HP printers. Only genuine HP cartridges will do. Outrageously expensive, but what's a user to do?

I only buy the XL (meaning extra long life) because it is the better value for the money. I probably get 500 pages (one ream)...maybe 600 or so on the average. I choose the genuine HP cartridge because I like the prompts my printer gives recognizing the installation taking me through a couple tests ensuring proper color, alignment, and some
other things. HP also sends me a postage paid return envelope for the old cartridge.

Turns out I did not need the 61 ink cartridge, but needed the 63 ink cartridge. The 61 cartridge did not register and didn't resolve the printer error. Had to buy the 63 cartridge to resolve the error.

Extra Ink + prints are great in a heavy printing
I had a large print project of 350 pages and I was glad i had the High yield Ink cartridge. My only concern is the software that measures the Ink supply does not seem to adapt well to the high yield cartridges. I had to keep stopping printing to check to see how much more ink I had.

I'm bought this a month ago and glad I did. Generic brands just don't perform with the computer like the real HP ink does. It's worth the little more you pay in the long run.

Didn't live up to number of pages printed
Low on pages printed. Supposed to be around 480, I only got 395. I seem to get better results from the Standard black ink. Thought I would do a price & page comparison and the XL hasn't consistently given me anywhere near 480 pages while the Standard has and sometimes exceeded the 190 amount.

Problem with color cartridge
When I installed the black cartridge it canceled out my color cartridge telling me it was not an approved HP cartridge it was you can see it on my purchase records it was indeed a HP color cartridge. Now I cannot print in color since I had to take out the color cartridge.

The order process is so easy and delivery is quick. This is great because I am always running out of ink in the middle of a project, so I do need the product quickly.

Another HP failure
I bought this cartridge in a desperate hope that it would finally get my HP printer working. It failed. My experience with HP has been terrible since I first received the 'incompatible cartridge' warning with my all-in-one 5530 Envy printer. The one time I was able to get to a virtual chat, I was sent the wrong printer cartridge. I haven't been able to get to a live person at all. I will be ditching this product and this company.

I received my 61xl ink cartridge (black) a couple of weeks ago and my printer told me last week that I was low on ink. Wow, what a shock, not even 2 weeks and I'm running low on ink. I do not print much during the week and not that much volume on the weekend. What gives, that was not even close to 480 pages.

Love the long-lasting cartridges
Don't you just love to go to the local Wal-Mart or Dollar Store lookinh=g for ink cartridges? No, not for me. The hunting for the department, the looking through various brands, then the hunt for the long-lasting ones I prefer. At a comparable price, I can stay home,click through, find what I want, pay through my PayPal, and receive my cartidges the next day. There is no better service!

It was often difficult to get it to print.
The printer finally broke, so it was WASTED money. I'm a disabled senior citizen and was forced to go buy a laser printer which works so easily. Wish I could get my money back. Had to throw two one-week cartridges away.

Usually have had very good results with HP 61 XL. This time however have only got about 100 copies and ink is depleted. This happens every once in a while and company admitted that it does. Very expensive for those kind of failures. Most of time I have been very happy with the HP ink. Custome service is usally very good about replacements when this happens.

Hp Help said I could use 2 black ink cartridges in my Envy 4500 printer. Taht is false! The upper front lip[ of the cartridges are milled differently for color and black inks and a black cartridge will not fit into a color cartridge slot!

Printer uses HP61XL; yes, they are pricey; yet I was able to purchase these on a sale from HP. As a pastor, I print lots in color; hence the XL lasts longer. Colors are vivid and don't smear with these genuine HP ink cartridges. Note to HP: will order more when you run a good sale.

Immediately after installing this new cartridge the print was very poor. Very light just as it was with the old one. Shook it and reinstalled. Was a bit better but is too light again. Looks like ink is low in the cartridge. Very dissatisfied with this purchase.

Seems to be giving a much higher yield
I went through my last normal yield ink cartridges a lot faster than in the past, or so it seemed. I usually didn't purchase the more expensive ones because I heard they really didn't last that much longer for the price, but after using the high yield black and tri color I must admit that I passed the normal yield and still have a nice reserve according to my level gauge.

Replacement ink cartridge purchase
I recently purchased an HP printer for my home. The black ink cartridge ran out and I did not want to get into the car and drive to Walmart to buy a replacement. I visited the HP website and was able to order the cartridge, charge it to my HP account and have it delivered to the house free of charge. This is a great product
Everytime I need to buy ink cartridges for my printer it will always be 61XL. It is unbelievable how long it lasts in comparison to the plain 61. I do a lot of printing and it is worth paying a little bit more to get the best quality cartridge.

I must stand by the HP Ink Cartridges, any number. They are superior. I have tried local refill options. However, the ink seems watered down, so the print doesn't have that sharp finished quality. The dollars saved on refill options are not worth the poor quality print on your documents. That "average" for features is because there could be more ink in the cartridges. I am an adult student. I print a lot of papers. Older professors still like hard copy; and I too prefer hard copies of my research materials. But back to the HP Ink Cartridges, my printers love them and so do I.

I killed the printer
Beware trying to change the ink cartridges in these printers! I pulled out the old black cartridge and somehow broke the printer - some wire came loose - and the black ink would not install. The color ink ran out soon after and I GINGERLY removed that cartridge and replaced it as well - both refused to work again. I have had HP printers for a decade and this is the first time I have ever killed a printer trying to change the ink.

iI do nothing but change the ink on this printer. It is costing me a small fortune. Even worse, you have to align the page. that can take half a ream of paper and half the ink b/c it will okay the alignment and the next day say you have to align all over again then when the ink is half way used up, it will tell you that the ink you bought directly from HP is counterfeit. I hate the printer. I hate the ink I have to change constantly and I HATE ALIGNING THE PAGE OVER AND OVER AND OVER AND OVER OVER AND OVER AND OVER ETC ETC ETC

Top notch product! When I received my HP printer, the software was easy to navigate, and the product is perfect. Only bad thing is, the quality of scanning is not superb...ok for flat things, but bad for 3 dimensional things. My old Compaq had high quality scanning ability. But, all in all, HP is GREAT.

Of course, you are aware of when I ordered the ink, and when I received, but on Sunday, 3/10/13, I have ALREADY run out of black ink??? This is VERY unusual for this to happen to me, because I generally can make each of the black and color inks last about 2 months. During those 2 months, I use each AND every day too! I do not know if I got a "bad egg" in the batch, but I REALLY am not very happy. I will not be able to place another order for a couple of weeks, and by then, I will have SO MUCH work that I will not have been able to print! I am wondering if I should just buy some ink from Walmart, because I KNOW they would have exchanged it and made it right. I rely on both the black and color inks for business AND personal use daily, and I am the only one that uses the printer. I bought the larger size because I thought it would last longer! Anything you could possibly do to make this right, would be very appreciated because other than this incident, I had planned on being a long time customer.

I have used other methods of purchasing ink in the past, including clone products - supposedly recycled cartridges- this turned into a nightmare as it ruined my HP printer - in the long run, the cost savings went right out the window. In the past I have purchased from local office supply stores. Not always the best option because they have been "out of stock" on more than one occasion. No other option I have used in the past compares to the quality and service of my internet direct purchasing experience. Not to mention discounts that are offered from time to time make the purchase very competitively priced. The cartridges that I purchase from HP are useable
What I mean by useable is that I have never had a cartridge from HP not work in my HP copier. I have purchased remanufactured cartridges form other companies and there have been 5 out of the 6 cartridges not work even though they were designated as workable for a certain copy machine. That is frustrating! HP products have never done that to me..... The price could be better but they do work....

The 61 XL cartridge lasts a long time
The print quality couldn't be better. Our main criteria are duration and cost, this cartridge holds up well on both counts although cheaper would be better. The discounts at HP are good and appreciated.

I always use genuine HP cartridges
The product shipped quickly. The quality is good. Not sure if it's just me, but toners never seem to last as long as you expect - even the XL toners. However, they do seem to last longer than other brands. I will continue to order this.

A little let down
We ordered the black and color xl because we print a lot of pages at one time, every three months. We put both in at the same time(we have used these before) but unfortunately the black barely made it to 200 pages and they are suppose to be double that. So I called customer service and they made it right. That is why we will continue using hp products, they have been great and the one time we had an issue they made it right without any hassle. Thank you hp for the great products.

Just knowing this cartridge is still available for my older printer is important to me. Hopefully this XL will last for some time to make it cost efficient. But I know I can order and have it in a day or two. Thus I rely on HP for my printing needs.

Great Product
I always use HP ink in my printer. It lasts longer than most other brands and always prints clearly without any smudging. The price is better than at my local discount store, too--especially with the free shipping!! I don't even have to go to the store, which is great. The Fed Ex guy just comes to my door and hands it to me a couple of days after I order it! What could be better? Okay, he could install it, too, but I guess that's too much to ask, right?

Great Experience
Up front I am a huge proponent of HP. I have ordered several computers over the years from HP and get all of my supplies from them. I may pay a little more for the items but the customer service, performance of the products and overall quality out weigh the cost. The ink cartidges have always worked in my printer and the speed of service makes it very convenient. I would definitely recommend purchasing products from HP and will continue to support their business.

I only buy from HP online because an in-store HP ink cartridge purchase from Walmart was bogus, which my printer rejected. HP online sends what I need promptly and is always good quality...and the price is absolutely competitive.

Run out of ink
Received this cartridge (61XL) yesterday. I liked the free shipping and the 2 business day delivery time but when I started printing I run out of ink after printing only 187 pages. This is less than what the regular 61 is rated (Up to 190 pages). On the web site the 61XL is rated to print up to 480 pages. The last 61XL I used printed more pages. Guess they didn't get enough ink in this one.

Twin pack -only one cartridge worked
I recently purchased a twin-pack of 61XL black ink cartridges. The first one that I installed had no ink at all. I ran 4 test prints, but only the color ink printed. I cleaned the print head to no avail. I removed it and shook it and there was no sound and no ink on the cartridge opening. I loaded the other cartridge and it printed right away. Normally, I have never had a problem with these cartridges. I threw out the return label when I received the package. I will contact HP to get a return label and replace the empty cartridge.

I specifically bought the high yield cartridge for a big print job I needed to do. The cartridge advertises ~480 pages. Mine printed ~120. 1/4 of what it said it would! I am very frustrated by this and now I have to buy another $35 cartridge to accomplish my task. Ridiculous. Do not advertise something you can't live up to. It was just black and white printing.

Not so good for the past 2 months
I absolutely love the 61XL print cartridges. I have purchased them for years. I tried other web sites that sale them, but I was never satisfied. Therefore I came back to HP. Unfortunately, for the past 2 months the print cartridges I have gotten have not lasted as long (neither the black or multi-colored ones). I am very, very disappointed. I am a senior and often does work out of my home. I don't get many discounts on print cartridges and have found, overall, that they become expensive because of the amount of printing I do. I just want to say - as much as I love these cartridges, I am disappointed and hope the next ones will produced like they use to.

Within a few days, the cartridge stopped working. The error message on my printer said 'defective black cartridge'. in subsequent days while I waited for a replacement to be delivered from another vendor, it worked sporadically, but never longer than part of a day.

Its hard to go wrong with HP Black ink. It doesn't bleed and it comes out even every time. No light and dark lines or letters. Looks good every time. I love HP ink and the XL High Yield lasts a long time. Great Product.

Long lasting cartridge
Using the XL ink cartridge means I don't have to put in a new cartridge as often and I like that, especially since my printer won't work with any other ink cartridge. Even if I try to refill a previously used HP cartridge, my printer won't recognize it, so I have settled on just using the larger size everytime.

This is amazingly long-lasting. Much more economical for my use than regular cartridges. I print out book-length manuscripts and write many articles in a month and was previously buying about 4 cartridges a month and now I can buy two and get even more pages out of them! While I always know that I will find what I need and get it quickly from HP, I have a problem with my printer at home in that I don't use it often and find myself having to get new ink more often than I think I should have to. I get the XP variety. My printer at work puts out a lot of prints and doesn't go through the ink my home one does. Makes me think it really does dry out...?

Ever since my last HP printer I have always bought the XL cartridges. They last much longer than the standard ones, especially in view of the price difference. When I purchased my current printer (5532) it was partially based on the fact that the XL cartridges were available for it.

I like being able to buy online, and to know that I'm absolutely getting the right cartridge--the genuine article. I'm no good at trouble-shooting, and if things don't work I start whining, so I'm glad HP makes it so simple for me. The directions were simple, and it fit right in! I only wish there were a money-saving multipack of black ink available for my simple All-in-One, because I don't ever want to be out of ink while I'm awaiting delivery again! Love your recycle program too--VERY convenient.

HP Ink
HP printers are the best and thier line of Ink is great and cheaper then most other brands. I have used high-line brands such as Lexmark, Kodak.They are great printers However to purchase INk and be able to use it is near impossible due to extreme price and poor reliablity.HP products so far are great and the Ink is cheaper and lasts longer then other brands . This cartridge does well and I can purchase 3 to one compared to other brand Ink cartridges.

The bigger size is needed
I love the bigger size. With other inks sometimes the ink would not keep its quality, but this does. The timely manner I receive it and the price is just as good as if I went to a store in my opinion.

To be honest, I review the cost of the HP61XL (black) and the HP61XL Tricolor that I can get from both the HP website and Staples (they are close to my home). I will buy from the establishment that has the lowest cost.

Disappointed
I was very disappointed in the ink cartridges. First of all, they are quite small. This is my second cartridge and I am hoping for more than the 82 printed pages
that I got out of the cartridge that came with the new printer. Love the printer, but I can tell I am going to be ordering a lot of new cartridges in the future.

I bought this HP Printer and entered into the HP ink program. After paying every month for a year and a half now, I’ve only received 1 shipment on the ink I was suspose to get when my printer runs out of ink. So far, I have to pay for 3 Black inks and 2 color inks on my own. Very disappointed and would not recommend this.

It's an ink cartridge and it works
Pluses: It works correctly with the printer. Print quality is good.
Minuses: No big ones, you just have to change it when it runs out.
Notes: Don't mess with the refills. Just buy the XL cartridge. You won't save enough money refilling the old one to make up for the inevitable problems (print quality, leaks, spills, etc.). If you are printing hundreds of pages, you will want a different printer anyway.

I ordered the HP 61XLprinter cartridge. I received the cartridge in excellent condition as advertised in the time frame assured. In past years I have tried customer filled cartridges and "reconditioned" cartridges none of which were satisfactory. I decided to try brand name replacement. As of now I will only use HP brand cartridges. HP brand is just too good to waste time and money on any other.

I made the mistake of buying a remanufactured ink cartridge because it was " cheaper ". Well that backfired! I spent less but ended up with less. I will DEFINITELY stick with original HP cartridges.

Spend more to be thrifty
Spending just a little more to get a lot more product really makes a lot of sense. I used to be "thrifty" buying smaller cartridges to get my printer going again. Then I realized that by spending less that twice the price to get more than twice the ink makes a lot more sense. I also have less down time while waiting to replace the cartridge.

I got it it was speedy time but now I have the ink and cant afford paper gosh its one thing after another I can never win but I would recommend you for the fast service but 1problem I have asked 3 times for the recycle bags to send back the used ink and still haven't received them I donot want to pollute the water or whatever I need those envelopes to send back all the used cartridges this is my fourth time asking maybe you will listen now or im going to sams club and purcghase my ink if I don't get my envelopes and it cost less for me my problem is getting someone to pick it up

HP inkjet cartridges are the best. Never have I had any streaking or build-up on my printer, and the ink lasts a long time. I purchase the XL because I do a large volume of printing, but the regular ones do last, also. I tried the "refill" store once, and will never do it again. HP has competitive pricing, sometimes even less than the "refill" store; HP offers free shipping, and my cartridges arrive in about 2 days. Enough said.

Received a bad HP 61 Black Cartridge from HP Store
I ordered a new print cartridge from HP. When I installed it, it immediately began to have problems. Printer finally would not print anything over a two day period. Had to go through hardware and software troubleshooting to get a replacement. Terrible, and I had to buy a new cartridge at the local store, a half hour drive away, while waiting for new cartridge to be delivered.

I agree. I paid extra for XL and did not last as long as it should. Will try once more to make sure, and then will begin to use a refill service here in town rather than buy new again. Can't affordd to keep buying new if they don't live up to their promises.

We bought the XL versus the reg cartridge
Thinking it would last longer .what a joke it has very poor quality printing ..it is using the ink up at a fast rate double printing or triple cant read what was printed .. put old cartridge back in and printed fine so its not my printer

Excellent ink for my HP Envy 4500 Series

Crisp Clear Printing
This cartridge prints and copies in black ink that is always crisp and clear to read. XL is the only type for me.I never have to worry about suddenly running out of ink.
