Epson WF DS-70000 Scanner is rated 4.50 out of 5 by 8.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing Versatility As a music archivist, I needed dependable scanner that could produce crisp scans with a minimum of fuss. The situation had presented itself to archive a dear friends life's work. I needed to bread to work with a variety of paper sizes as well as ink/pencil manuscripts seamlessly. I had worked with Epson printers over the years and found them to be dependable and easy to setup in the MAC environment. The Epson DS-70000 seemed to just what I needed. Set up was a snap with the unit with software installation a no-brainer. From unpacking to first scan was around an hour and a half. An aspect of this unit that was a pleasant surprise is the ADF. The feeder tray elevates the paper to the feeder that makes for a very smooth and precise paper feed. As a single user I am very pleased with the scanner - the results are stellar. Expect the usual sturdy and well designed Epson approach in the scanner

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fair at best I operate a large production, high volume document archival scanning facility. We see it all when it comes to paper scanning. I bought this scanner 1 month ago with hopes it would outperform our other devices and I would buy more. Not the case. First the pros. Superior piece of hardware and arrived very well packaged. The feed rollers were very easy to install. If you're scanning 20lb (or some heavier weights) at LTR to Ledger size, in good condition, this scanner is for you. Now the cons. Lighter weight papers tear and crinkle going through the ADF. You have to glass those which is not the case with our other devices and slows down the production process. The scanning software is average at best. It comes with two different scanning apps and Document Capture Pro is the better of the two. There's no dynamic or autothreshold for black and white docs so colored pages come out black and illegible. You can choose auto color detect to combat this but now file size becomes an issue (for me anyways). The auto size detect and blank page removal work as well as most other apps we work with. The double page feed detection works, but does not give you an option to continue. It just stops. When scanning different sections into one file, the continue or add pages icon is way too small and located in a funny place on the screen. That being said, this scanner is a good fit for certain environments, mainly office/legal/medical, where you are capturing standard size pages of various color types. But only 20lb weight or heavier. You can email, FTP, send to Google Docs or a network folder. There's a one touch button on the device itself that will scan pages to a location using default settings which would be a streamlined solution in a lot of office environments. I wouldn't qualify this scanner as a production scanner but more like a high quality, very fast, very expensive office scanner.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Does everything a scanner needs to do....and more As a music archivist, I needed a dependable scanner that could produce crisp scans with a minimum of fuss. The situation had come up to archive a dear friends life's work. I needed to be ready to work with a variety of paper as well as ink/pencil manuscripts seamlessly. I had worked with epson printers over the years and found them to be dependable and easy to set up in the MAC environment. The epson DS70000 looked like it be the ticket. Set up was a snap and software installation a no-brainer. Sometimes with a MAC scanner setup can be esoteric. From unpacking to first scan was around an hour and a half. Scanning software is intuitive and straight forward. Keep in mind that this is not a compact unit, but as I needed the 11x17 scanning capability it was essential I had that option. This thing can handle any size I'm likely to encounter. An aspect of this unit that was a pleasant surprise is the Automatic Document Feeder. I was hesitant to utilize this feature with music manuscripts. The feeder tray elevates the paper that makes for a very smooth and precise paper feed. And with this unit, being able to scan a single or double sides at once is terrific. As a single user, I am very pleased with the scanner - the results are stellar. Looks like there is an add-on that would make the unit accessible from in an office environment. Expect the usual sturdy and well designed epson approach in this piece of equipment.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Scanner for music scanning! I work on a website where we upload thousands of music files everyday. This scanner is perfect for those needs! Scanning up to 11.7 x 17 inches is the perfect size for most music that was published by publishers. Since the music has gone out of copyright, we then take very old scores and convert them digitally to be used by the thousands of internet users across the web! Definitely would recommend this scanner to those who have to make hundreds of pages of scanning that needs the ADF part of the scanner, or needs to scan very large size music scores!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from "OLD FAITHFUL" This printer was purchased for my daughter her first year of college in 2012. It carried her through college and is now helping my younger 3 through Virtual Academy during this pandemic. This printer has never been serviced and barely has had any issues other than a few more papers coming out at the same time which was user error. The plastic is still on the front panel since the beginning of purchase. This printer is still giving our family quality print work!
