Excellent Thunderbolt Docking Station for Meetings.
The Thunderbolt Dock G2 with audio module work well. It can produce good clear sound quality. It has standard USB ports, a VGA display port, two full DisplayPort, USB-C ports. We've purchased about 20 of these docks but two so far has issues with the audio module failing. Luckily it was still under warranty.

ok when worked
First there was no manual in the box and technology especially new technology with out a manual is just about worthless. I spent way too much time trying to find out all the features that I did not even care to use the thunderbolt. When I did figure out the whole thing it was alright but not worth the hassle

Great solution
The HP Thunderbolt dock has been a welcome, and elegant solution for my crowded desk. I work with my MacBook Pro in a stand and connected to a monitor and other peripherals. It’s always been a bit of a pain because that involves dongles and cords draped across my desk. This dock has let me get rid of all those attachments and given me the extra ports Macbook lacks. I also use Zoom a lot and the HP dock’s audio capability has been wonderful in that sense. One caveat here is that I don’t run dual monitors so I’m not sure how well that setup would work - but this is perfect for connecting a docked laptop to an external monitor. Finally the HP dock itself is sleek and looks great on my desk. Overall I’m very happy with this product.

Learning curve
I am typically tech savvy but it took me an embarrassingly long time to figure this out. There were no instructions included with this item but after extensive online searching and lots of playing around with it it’s a nifty little dock. It’s small and very space saving. Has lots of ports for various different things to help reduce the clutter of your electronics station.

Awesome product, but microphone is barely passing
This docking station is great. It takes up minimal desk space, and is godlike for work from home setups. I have it connected to 3 external monitors, Ethernet, and wireless mouse and key. The speaker is very loud with pretty good sound quality. The fact that its type c with charging means it can charge small to mid power laptops that have a type c port without a separate charger. My only complaint with this item is that they opted for a VGA port instead of HDMI, and that the Microphone does not pick up sound very well, I would rate the microphone in the low to mid range of quality microphones. To have good sound in the microphone, you need to make sure theres no background noise, as well as make sure you are within about 2 foot range from the dock and speak loud.

Problems from Day 1...Quit working 60 days later
I bought HP Thunderbolt Dock 120W G2 with audio 2 months ago. I connected it to a HP Spectre. From the beginning I hooked up dual monitors but half the time I could only get 1 monitor to work. I replaced the monitor thinking that was the problem. It was not the problem. This week the audio speaker stopped working. Today I am unable to turn the dock station on. Running a business is much easier when the computer components work.

Double-Duty Winner
Docks are great; many-to-one input to your desktop/laptop. Small docks are better; docks that do more than docking are better still; docks that do all that AND are small, lightweight, almost universally compatible -- now you have true value. That's what the HP Thunderbolt dock does for you: minimize the cord hassle with a single connection from the dock to your system; move that data to your system at firewire speeds. And here's where HP stands out from the crowd: Once the hardware is connected the audio it's compatible with all conference software like Zoom, WebEx, etc. The audio is excellent for conferencing. I might get irritated listening to Beethoven's 3rd Symphony but that's not its purpose. Highly recommended.

Not great speaker quality
Features and quality are great Except the speaker. The speaker quality is POOR, a regular desktop speaker is much better than this one. Or probably I putt too high expectation on B&O.

A very capable dock at a stratospheric price
The dock works seamlessly with my HP EliteBook 840 G5, the sound quality is far better than the awful built-in speakers, and people on Zoom and Teams meetings report the microphone produces terrific sound quality on their end. The unit was plug and play for me, although I needed my IT department to give me temporary admin privileges to allow the laptop to recognize it. I appreciate that to turn power on you have to press and hold.
HP's standard dock has a power button on top that is so sensitive any inadvertent tap shuts the laptop down. One bizarre design choice is that the cord leading to the computer comes out of the bottom front of the device, so the cable has to bend around the unit to reach the laptop. It isn't shown that way on HP's website, which is somewhat misleading. But it doesn't affect the function. Also, the website description as to what's in the box omits the fact that it comes with a power cable. I had to call HP before ordering to confirm since it has a different power jack from the USB C that is becoming standard.

Excellent Device
Just finished deploying 12 of these in our office as part of a full office technology refresh and I and my users absolutely love them. We had some issues with three of them which HP's support quickly took care of by shipping out new units.
Before diving into the performance of the devices, let's review what all the capabilities of the Thunderbolt Dock are first. The front of the dock has a short (~1m) Thunderbolt/USB type-C cable coming out of it that you connect to your laptop. This cable looks like it is hardwired but it is actually just plugged into a USB type-C port on the bottom of the dock that is covered with an easily removable base (1 simple Phillips-head screw). I replaced this with a longer USB type-C cable which gives a lot of flexibility with where to place your laptop. The front of the dock also contains another USB type-C port.
The right side of the device has a 1/8" combination headphone jack, a traditional USB 3 type-A port that supports power delivery, and a security slot for using a locking cable to secure the device to a desk. The left side of the device is devoid of ports. The top of the device includes six (6) touch-sensitive buttons. The five (5) buttons across the front of the device provide controls for (from left-to-right):
- Skype for Business/Teams Call Answer
- Mute (this mutes the built-in microphone array)
- Volume Down (this decreases the Windows master volume level by two)
- Volume Up (this increases the Windows master volume level by two)
- Skype for Business/Teams Call End
The final button is located at the back of the top of the device and functions as the power button for the connected laptop.
On the back side there are two full-size DisplayPort ports, two (2) Thunderbolt/USB type-C ports with power delivery, two (2) USB 3 type-A ports, a VGA port, the power connector, and a gigabit Ethernet port.
Everything works great but especially the speakerphone features. I've used this for Zoom and Google Meet meetings and everyone I've met with has remarked at how clear I sound. The speaker portion is good as well and will get quite loud.
BONUS: This works great with Macs as well!

Great for telehealth
I work from home as a nurse practitioner for telehealth. This fit my needs perfectly. It works with my HP envy laptop, which was not listed on compatible computers. I spoke with HP and they said as long as you have a USB port it will work. The MIC is much more clear than the one on my laptop. The speaker is great too. I definitely recommend. There is no HDMI port, but you can connect a monitor to your laptop HDMI port or use a VGA cable.

Exactly what I was looking for in docking station!
Super easy to hook up, even without written instructions. (I was a bit intimidated at first, but pictures worked for me). I have cleared my workspace and the easy one-connector hookup to my laptop is great for mobility. About $100 more than similar docking stations, but with the audio mic/speaker included, well worth the extra$.

GREAT! Large functionality, small footprint.
Easy plug and play for my HP 840 G5 laptop and my sister's MacBook Pro 15" with touchbar. Did not have any issues setting it up. I do have an 840 G3 work laptop I was hoping to use it with, but the USB-c port on that one does not support the dock. Doesn't bother me, I am happy it works with my personal G5 laptop and am using the ultra slim dock for work.
My favorite part of the dock is the desk-space I saved and that its one cable to my laptop and I am docked and charging at the same time. It looks good too.
The integrated speaker works great, I tested it with Skype and Zoom, its more than loud enough, i can see this being used in a conference room setup.
I currently have attached two E232 displays via display port cables and two HP Velocity 14 portable monitors via USB for a total of 5 screens including my laptop screen at the center. Still had room for my Logitech MX Vertical mouse and Craft keyboard via the side USB, an Xbox one controller via the side thunderbolt 3, and my phone charger via the front thunderbolt 3.
I am still playing with it to see what devices I am able to dock and which I cannot.

No manual
I've had the dock about two weeks. Works fine for basic functions and sound is good. Unfortunately, although it appears to have been designed with more advanced features, HP has decided not to provide an operation manual - either in the box or online. The device also makes random sounds once or twice a day. Again - can't troubleshoot because there is no manual.

Works like a charm
I purchased this dock a few weeks ago for use with my x360 1030 G2 notebook. It was easy to set-up and worked immediately. The audio dock is great. I spend a lot of time on Skype calls and now I no longer need to wear a headset all day long. Feels like I'm free! Given I work out of a home office use of a speaker phone doesn't disturb anybody. Noise cancelling seems to work well and the sound is great. I'm a happy guy using this dock.

Great for MBP to Run 2 Ultrafine 4K Monitors
All the IO that you need and with the 2 USB-C type Thunderbolt 3 ports with Display-Port Alt Mode, you can run 2 of the Ultrafine 4K Monitors from a MBP 2016 or later off a single USB-C cable with the Apple/BlackMagin eGPU that did not both to provide more than 2 USB-C ports even though an RX580 GPU can support up to 5 displays. Fail on Apple. Success from HP. Decent speaker, ethernet port, 2 displays, and a bunch of USB-A along with everything else in the specs. Compact size, not intrusive, nice look to it.

Big features, small package
I have this connected to my 2018 Macbook Pro with external monitors, keyboard, mouse, and other peripherals for my software engineering work. The dock is able to charge my Mac, unlike my previous dock and the Audio conference feature has been excellent. The only downside I have, and I knew this before purchasing, was that the Macbook will not run dual monitors on the dock in extended mode. Therefore, I have to have 1 monitor plugged into the dock and the other directly into the Macbook to get both monitors to work in extended mode, but since I no longer need a separate charge cable it has not been a hinderance. Overall I am extremely pleased with this dock and intend to use it for as long as possible.

Good when it works.
I’ve dealt with several of these docking stations and noticed many issues. The first one I used didn’t work straight out of the box so first impressions weren’t good. Many teacher at my campus have used them and had zero issues but there also many who have had issues with them. Ive set up at least twenty different stations and even packaging isn’t the best. Some come with missing cords. Some of the stations worked flawlessly and many had issues. It’s or miss with this device. For the price, I expected more reliability.

It’s easy to carry around and have in your office space when needed. Doesn’t take up too much space which is great. As for making it run, I had no problem. It worked super great. I also love that it had audio. The quality transmutation is amazing and so is the audio. I overall enjoyed using this and do recommend purchasing it.

Really cleaned up the cord clutter at my desk
This Thunderbolt dock has really been a game changer when it comes to cleaning up the cord clutter at my workspace. Before I had cords everywhere that connected via USB to my desktop monitor and laptop. All these cords connected my printer, speakers, headset, scanner, mouse, and tablet to my laptop. So it was a real tangled web of cords that took up so much space and looked so messy and ruined my minimalist look I was trying to achieve. I am somewhat tech savvy but even I was surprised at how easy this dock connects all my devices together and how it took almost no time at all to clean up the cord mess. The sound quality on this Thunderbolt dock is excellent for the size of this device, it is small about the size of a three wick jar candle. When I take calls on it the voice quality is clear, not muffled and there's no distorting. Other audio like music has a clear rich sound that sounds as if it is being played by much larger speakers. There is handy call, mute, and volume control buttons on top of the dock that are also very handy to use quickly and conveniently. Overall I couldn't be happier with the Thunderbolt dock and wish I would have had this sooner, it has really made my working from home a lot more clutter free and enjoyable.

Amazing!
This dock was perfect for my work from home situation! It allowed me to turn my desk into a full workstation! I was able to keep my notebook and other tech synced and ready to roll for all my work needs! I love that you are able to plug everything in to one little hub and declutter all the cables and mess! It provides super easy access to my ethernet cable and other workplace needs!

better than the unit designed for my laptop!
Set up was easy. I just had to give the thunderbolt software permission to connect the device. Sound is great. Ethernet port works perfectly. It even powers my laptop which my original dock doesn’t even do. It’s like a dock and ac adaptor in one. I’m quite amazed actually!

Great for Conference calls
I got this a few days ago and happy I did. Was not sure how to hook it up to my PC. So I got a friend to come by and show me .But I learned fast how to use it with my conference calls. So better than just using headset and not having something around my head.

Great if you have to connect to a lot of ports
I had no problems connecting this to my MacBook Pro and second monitor. My MacBook has no usb or other ports so this dock is super helpful so I don’t have to have a bunch of adapters. I usually have my headphones, monitor, and phone charger plugged into my laptop. When I have to move my laptop to another room to work, I have to unplug everything. With the dock, I can just disconnect the dock and be on my way.
Also, to connect the audio speaker to zoom or google hangout, make sure to change your audio and speaker settings to go to the dock and not the default MacBook. It’s way louder and nice for listening to music or watching videos.

Finicky
The dock is a bit finicky - the USB-C connection to the laptop is too sensitive, and will connect/disconnect throughout the day, even after a firmware update.

Software Issues
I bought this docking station so I could transition from one external 4k monitor to dual 4k monitors. However, this docking station will sadely not let you run dual 4k monitors as advertised. Instead, your refresh rate for your 4k monitor (even if you are only running one) will drop by 30 fps, regardless of what cables you are running (HDMI, usb-C, display port).

Great little dock!
This is a great little charging dock. I really have always loved all of HP's products and have always trusted the brand. This charging hub works with my laptop and is awesome. I would recommend it to anyone I know that needs the space and an extra hub for multiple things to charge.

Amazing
So happy that I purchased the HP Thunderbolt Dock w Audio. It's a game changer for working remote. The built in speaker and microphone is amazing, no more calling in to meeting using a cell phone. It connects directly to Webex and other platforms. No need for head phones or ear buds. The background noise canceling feature works great. This dock is a must if you work from home. Plus you get all the docking connections. It really is a perfect setup all in a small box.

The HP Thunderbolt Dock is an Excellent Product
Other reviews mentioned difficulties with connectivity. I use a HP ZBook 15 G6 & this was a true 'plug & play' set up for me, no tinkering or coercing required. Regarding the top of the unit being the on/off control & thus a nuisance, to me the purpose of a dock is to connect all static devices to the dock in order to free up the laptop ports which then can be used for interim connections. I have the unit with audio which is by default, the non-audio version was not immediately available, but I have ended up using it frequently. In addition, the compact cube design is a nice evolvement from prior 'clunks' & is aesthetically pleasing. It actually provides you with more desk space when you are not using your laptop.

Great when it worked. Now it's junk.
I have been using this daily and it was amazing when it worked. After 18 months this unit died and now does not even power up. I have surge protector and battery backup so there is no way a surge could have shorted it. Now it just sits as a massive $300 paperweight. Very disappointed in the quality of this product.

The Dock keeps locking my system up.
Terrible product, I hooked this up to a brand new HP laptop and it doesn't work. After 4 hours of bios firmware etc upgrades it still didn't work. I finally figured out that if I start thunderbolt manually, the computer will recognize it and things start to work but I have to do this every time I connect it. I copy this review from another person because he is having the same problems I'm having on my brand new HP Spectre x360 Convertible 13t-aw000

Worthy Thunderbolt Dock
I bought this for my HP Spectre x360 13T which I haven't received yet, but thought I would go ahead and try it with my old ASUS. I have two 27" 4K monitors that I have tried numerous Thunderbolt dock brands with and received poor results. I connected this and they work great with the ASUS, awesome! I can't wait to get my HP Spectre x360 and connect it. I have noticed the microphone seems to have better pick than my pc also.

Modern, Sharp Docking Station
Worked right away with no hiccups with an EliteBook 745 G6. Audio sounds good and can get far louder than cheap 2.0 desktop speakers that are passively powered. Having two USB Type-C ports is nice, but only have three Type-A ports is a real bummer... kind of ridiculous having to run a USB hub off of this when it should be the sole USB hub. Even if two additional USB Type-A ports were just USB 2.0, that would be fine as many input peripherals like keyboard and mice are still USB 2.0, as well as wireless KB/mouse receivers. Also, I find it silly to have one side of this unit only have one port -- a USB Type-A port. I have this pushed up against my desk wall to save space, so that port is blocked. The USB Type-C PD cable that connects to the laptop sticks out the opposite end of all the ports, so you are already guaranteed to have two side of this unit having cables coming out.
The USB ports are nit-picking but still enough for me to dock this unit one star. Functionally, it's an awesome dock; I'm glad we're going with these units over the regular USB Type-C docks. I do feel the higher cost is warranted, especially if speakers are desired.
There's also a 230W version of this, but I think it's only supposed to be used with HP workstation laptops and desktops. This unit provides more than enough power to quickly charge your standard ProBook and EliteBook models and power all your hungry devices on the USB ports. I quickly charged my Asus Zenfone via the USB Type-C w/PD port while recharging the laptop at the same time.
Overall, I'm pleased with this until and feel it's a worthy successor to the Slim Dock 2013 that it's replacing.

I Love This Hub But.....
I did an extensive amount of research looking for a hub that would satisfy my expectations and meet my requirements. This hub came the closest.
I originally had a Lenovo Thinkpad and docking station at work. The docking station was annoying because it was the kind where you had to line it up just right and press down until it clicked. Lining it up was often frustrating.
When my company decided to refresh our laptops, they weren't giving docking stations. So, I purchased this on my own. When my employer demanded we work from home (Coronavirus pandemic), I ordered a second one for my home office. I loved that there was no more top docking - just a USB-C port that could do everything - including power. One of my requirements was that it would interface with WebEx and other conference meeting applications - I am on the a lot of them.
Some of the things I did not think of we welcomed assets from the smart innovators at HP; like the ability to start the laptop by pressing on the top. That meant I didn't have to open he laptop, press the button, and close it, and the added USB port on the front where I plugged in my wireless dongle (for my keyboard and mouse).
I docked (pun intended) the product 1 star because one of my requirements was "HDMI". The doc does NOT have HDMI ports. So, I had to purchase DP-HDMI adapters for my 2 monitors. If you plan to use the latest monitors (all which now use HDMI), don't forget to order (cable) adapters.

Not compatible and not returnable
I discovered that this is not compatible with my laptop. So I figured I would return it. It was only then that I discovered it was not returnable. It does work well as a $250 paperweight. Andmaybe when my company upgrades our laptops it willwork.

Great docking.
I got this docking station approximately a month ago and I’m glad I did. It is a good add-on. However, I wish it works seamless with the HP spectre x360 - 15t and that the speaker has a better output.

A Must Have!
I have been using this dock for a year and a half now and it has been a game-changer for my work from home set up and my productivity. Getting it up and running properly on an HP Spectrex360 took a bit of time, i.e.multiple rounds of thunderbolt, bios & other software/firmware updates. Once over that hump, it' been a dream. I spend upwards of 6-7 hours/day in video-conference calls with no issues - the Bang & Olufsen sound is very clear. I've got it set up with 3 external hp monitors (2 DisplayPort, 1 VGA) via, a 5.1 surround sound system, a wireless mouse/keyboard, a couple of USB charging cables for cell/tablets, and everything works perfectly - no overheating, no failure, no lags.

Get that home office setup right
With switching to a mix of working from home, and in office, I needed to step up my game. The HP G2 dock with audio module lets me connect 2 external monitors, ethernet, usb peripherals, and power supply to my laptop with a single cable. I’m happy with it.

Nice design, could use some more USB ports
Have been using this for a month or so and is really good so far other than needing to install thunderbolt drivers and my workplace being restrictive in terms of software installs. Once that was installed, all devices were automatically recognized.
Would like a few more USB slots on the back as I still have to use a dock to get all my power cords, camera, etc. attached.

An all in one solution
My first dock works very well with my specter 360. It did how much my productivity would increase with double screens and being able to use my laptop as my main work computer. Works very well. Did anything I would improve is more bass to the speaker so they could be used for music not just audio voice conferencing.

Lots of Ports and Great Audio!
Got this to pair with an HP Probook with no problems. Lots of ports for all my peripherals and usb-c takes care of power for the laptop, so all cords for the laptop can stay in the bag. Makes it super easy to unplug the one USB-c port and stash the laptop in the bag and be on-the-go. Bang and Olufsen speaker sounds great on podcasts, webinars, and has easy tap calling features and volume controls for conference or video calls.
