Secure hybrid environments with robust cyber threat protection

What is our primary use case? I have been working with Prisma Access since 2019. We have a service reminder for some of our customers. Our usual cases involve the integration of end-user computing solutions with GlobalProtect VPN services, managing private access applications, SaaS, and cloud networks such as AWS, Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud Platform, using Prisma Access. What is most valuable? The most valuable features are ZTNA 2.0, CASB, Threat Prevention, and Autonomous Digital Experience Management (ADAM). These features are security-driven, providing robust protection against increasing cyber threats by integrating NG Firewalls, SD WAN, and CASB, all within a fully cloud-native solution. This enables easy integration with both legacy and modern platforms, allowing enhanced leverage and scalability. What needs improvement? Palo Alto's operational and support model needs improvement since we have faced issues with resolving problems. While the product itself is comprehensive and up-to-date, Palo Alto should be more vigilant and proactive in customer support. For how long have I used the solution? I have been working with Prisma Access since 2019. What do I think about the stability of the solution? Prisma Access is very stable, and I am very much satisfied with its stability, rating it nine to ten out of ten. What do I think about the scalability of the solution? Prisma Access provides significant scalability, allowing integration of different systems. It supports hybrid environments where some services are on cloud and others are on-premises, offering leverage in integrating service hubs, rating its scalability around eight to nine out of ten. How are customer service and support? The product is reliable, making customer support less frequently needed. When needed, the operational model can pose issues. I would rate the technical support at less than five. How would you rate customer service and support? Neutral How was the initial setup? The initial setup is complicated, however, once completed, it works fine. I would rate the initial setup process as around six or seven out of ten. What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing? The pricing is on the higher side, rating it around eight to nine out of ten. While it is justified for its value, there is room for price reduction. What other advice do I have? I would rate the overall solution an eight out of ten. Which deployment model are you using for this solution? Hybrid Cloud If public cloud, private cloud, or hybrid cloud, which cloud provider do you use? Allows secure access to all applications and resources from any location but needs a simpler dashboard

What is our primary use case? For Prisma, given the distributed architecture of organizations, there is a need for centralized security that follows users wherever they go. All security policies must be consistent regardless of location, which means centralized security is crucial. The main purpose is to have zero trust, a well-known term in the market, for which Prisma is very useful. What is most valuable? Prisma Access allows secure access to all applications and resources from any location. This is an essential advantage for maintaining consistent security across various platforms and remote connections. The centralized security that ensures policies follow users is also a core feature, promoting zero trust, a necessary security model in today's market. What needs improvement? If Prisma Access could offer a more granular and simpler dashboard configuration, it would be beneficial. Greater simplicity and fewer steps in the dashboard to accomplish tasks would make it more user-friendly. For how long have I used the solution? I have three years of experience with it right now. What do I think about the stability of the solution? It is stable. Both Zscaler and Prisma are stable. Once configured, they maintain stability, with no need for hardware maintenance. Stability is sufficient for static components. What do I think about the scalability of the solution? Prisma Access is easily scalable. As the number of users increases, just the number of licenses needs to be adjusted. Scalability is a common feature among many access solutions, with no resource limitations since everything is on the cloud. How are customer service and support? Palo Alto's support is generally rated five out of five. However, the technical support for Prisma Access specifically might not meet that level because it involves third-party handling. Thus, I would rate it seven or eight out of ten. How would you rate customer service and support? Positive How was the initial setup? The initial setup, compared to a firewall, is more complex. Although some options in Cortex are simple, Prisma access requires numerous steps and options, requiring users to be trained. What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing? Enterprise customers mainly use it because it's costly. When compared to Zscaler, 100 clients in Zscaler might cost around $3,000,000, whereas Prisma could cover this within $1,000,000. Which other solutions did I evaluate? Zscaler would be a better choice from an administration point of view. For non-technical and technical evaluations, Zscaler stands out due to simplicity in tasks and lower training requirements. What other advice do I have? I would rate Prisma Access seven out of ten. It is not the best, nor the worst. However, due to its complexity, Zscaler might be better suited for administrative ease. Which deployment model are you using for this solution? Public Cloud If public cloud, private cloud, or hybrid cloud, which cloud provider do you use? Enhancing remote work with cloud security and reduced latency

What is our primary use case? We are an on-premises company at the moment, so we use GlobalProtect. Our firewalls are hosted in our on-premises data centers and offices. We have been using this solution for years and are exploring options like Prisma Access and Azure VPN to enhance security and support for remote workers. What is most valuable? GlobalProtect has been beneficial for its cloud security capabilities, which are vital as businesses seek hybrid options and need to support remote workers while addressing latency issues. By establishing regional hubs in the cloud, we benefit from good backbone services provided by cloud providers like Prisma Access or Azure, which enhances performance. What needs improvement? GlobalProtect can face challenges with latency, especially when remote workers connect to centralized locations. Hosting it in the cloud can mitigate these issues by allowing connection through the nearest Palo Alto or Prisma Cloud regional hub. Overall, no specific issues with the product itself have been observed, but the need for cloud adoption is noted. For how long have I used the solution? We have been using GlobalProtect for several years. For Prisma Access and Azure VPN, we have been testing them for the last couple of months. What do I think about the stability of the solution? GlobalProtect is a satisfying solution, and the product is robust without major stability issues. What do I think about the scalability of the solution? Scalability can be limited by the physical hardware, which has performance thresholds. To scale, one would need to upgrade or acquire more hardware. However, if manpower increases significantly, then investing in scaling the hardware is justifiable. How are customer service and support? Customer support from Palo Alto has been satisfactory. We rarely need to contact support due to having a strong internal team and a robust product. How would you rate customer service and support? Positive Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch? Previously, we used GlobalProtect and Palo Alto Firewalls. We also worked with Cisco ASA and Connect. We are now exploring options like Prisma Access and Azure VPN. How was the initial setup? The initial setup of GlobalProtect was straightforward and easy. What was our ROI? We have not performed ROI calculations yet, as we are still learning about the technology. What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing? Pricing for Prisma Access and Prisma SD WAN is high due to the need for different hardware flavors like IONs. However, if a good return on investment is proven, then it is a good option. Which other solutions did I evaluate? The solutions we are considering are Prisma Access and Microsoft Azure VPN. What other advice do I have? The advice is highly dependent on whether the business is more on-premises or cloud-based. On-premises businesses are recommended to use GlobalProtect, while cloud-based companies should consider cloud solutions to avoid additional spending on on-premises hosting. The overall rating for GlobalProtect is nine out of ten. Which deployment model are you using for this solution? Enhanced security for remote and internal applications with integrated features

What is our primary use case? Our primary use case of Prisma Access is to provide secure Internet access for users regardless of their location. It is also used for secure access to internal applications and secure SaaS applications, ensuring the same level of security whether users are working from home, the office, or any other location. How has it helped my organization? Prisma Access has allowed us to reduce the number of agents from multiple to just one single agent. It integrates several components, such as IPS, DLP, remote VPN, and SWG, into a single console, which has helped reduce costs and improve the return on investment. What is most valuable? The most valuable feature of Prisma Access is its ability to provide enterprise-class security for both Internet and internal application access. Unlike other OEMs that can only secure Internet access, Prisma Access can secure both internal and Internet-based application access. What needs improvement? The Prisma Access could improve in terms of adding more machine learning and AI capabilities to automate tasks such as incident response. This would enhance the overall security posture by enabling better and faster management of security threats. For how long have I used the solution? I have been working with Prisma Access for the last five-plus years. What do I think about the scalability of the solution? In terms of scalability, Prisma Access has adapted well to our organization's growth needs. Most customers are either planning to move to SASE solutions or have already moved, making Prisma Access an excellent choice for scalability. How are customer service and support? I would rate their technical support a nine out of ten. How would you rate customer service and support? Positive Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch? Before using Prisma Access, we used multiple products for remote VPN, SWG from vendors like McAfee and Forcepoint Proxy, and other VPN clients from vendors like Pulse Secure VPN, Fortinet, and Palo Alto. We switched to Prisma Access for its integrated approach. What was our ROI? Prisma Access has significantly improved our ROI by combining multiple technologies into one single solution. It reduces the need for multiple agents and products, which brings down the overall cost for our customers. What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing? The licensing cost of Prisma Access is calculated per unique user, with each user being able to connect up to eight devices. If a user is no longer active after thirty days, that license becomes free. There is flexibility in terms of exceeding the license count, as it operates on a trust-based license model. What other advice do I have? Prisma Access is best suited for enterprise and mid-level customers. It may not be the best fit for the SMB market due to higher pricing. I'd rate the solution nine out of ten. Which deployment model are you using for this solution? Hybrid Cloud If public cloud, private cloud, or hybrid cloud, which cloud provider do you use? Stable, performs well for users but improvement needed in the policy management

What is our primary use case? It can be used for remote access to web applications and to grant secure access to users. I've mainly used their solutions for VPN connections from mobile devices. What is most valuable? It's quite reliable and performs well for users. What needs improvement? It wasn't so satisfying to work with it. There is room for improvement in the policy management. It is difficult to cover the entire scenery through Palo Alto products. In future releases, more focus on integrations would be beneficial, along with improvements in policy management. For how long have I used the solution? I am familiar with this product. What do I think about the stability of the solution? It seemed quite a stable product. What do I think about the scalability of the solution? We have a couple of customers using this solution. How was the initial setup? The initial setup was relatively easy, but there were complexities due to the policies we had to generate. What about the implementation team? I was more of a user than an administrator. However, the deployment process seemed quick. Primarily setting up the software. The team involved in the setup handled the rest. One person is enough for the deployment. From the management side, I'm sure there are several people involved. From an end-user perspective, it's very simple. It likely doesn't need more than one person to manage it. What other advice do I have? Overall, I would rate the solution a seven out of ten. Which deployment model are you using for this solution? Offers good performance and reliability to users

What is our primary use case? I use the solution in my company to work with the remote access VPN. With the tool, users connect their office network and data center networks with the infrastructure from outside places, like home and other sites, so our company can use the remote access of the tool. What is most valuable? The most valuable features of the solution are in the areas of the secure remote access it provides while also being user-friendly. What needs improvement? From any improvement perspective, the product's compatibility issues with Linux need to be resolved. The response from the support team needs to be made faster. For how long have I used the solution? I have been using Prisma Access by Palo Alto Networks for three years. In my previous organization, I used the solution for two years. What do I think about the stability of the solution? The stability of the product is good. Stability-wise, I rate the solution a nine out of ten. What do I think about the scalability of the solution? The scalability features of the product are available in a package. GlobalProtect will serve even if you purchase a device with a capacity of two hundred users. You can't increase the capacity above two hundred users. Basically, with the device capabilities, you can include 200 users in GlobalProtect, so it all depends on your hardware model. In my previous company, there were around 150 users of the tool with Linux. I feel that there were almost 200 users of the product. How are customer service and support? The technical support for the solution is good, but it is not like Cisco's support services. Sometimes, there is a delay in response from the support team's end, but during emergency cases, it is okay. How was the initial setup? The product's initial setup phase is neither straightforward nor complex, making it a process that lies in the middle. I will say that it is very easy to deploy. The tool's configuration can be done in one day. In my previous organization, my colleague and I were the two people who deployed the product, tested it, and found the results, and then we delivered it to our clients. As per my previous experience, after I gave the solution to the company's customer, I took care of one custom configuration for a particular purpose. I read the tool's documentation to see how to configure it and how to set up GlobalProtect on the client machines, after which I made a documentation explaining the way to deploy it and install GlobalProtect. For deployment and maintenance purposes, one or two people are enough. What was our ROI? In terms of the ROI, the tool is secure for official data. If someone wants security, GlobalProtect SSL VPN is something that I would recommend. With the tool, it is not possible to count how much revenue it helped generate since it basically protects your data from home to your office network and communicates with lots of data. The tool is secure. From a security perspective, GlobalProtect is good. Which other solutions did I evaluate? In comparison with GlobalProtect, there could be FortiClient. If some users cannot afford Palo Alto Networks, then they can choose FortiClient. What other advice do I have? My company didn't receive any support from Palo Alto to connect securely to our organization's branch offices. The tool is very easy to deploy. Another co-engineer and I in my company completed the deployment task for the solution. The deployment is not very difficult, especially if you have Palo Alto's Next-Generation Firewalls since with it, you can really get the VPN connection for Windows and other operating systems, but my company had faced some challenges with Linux, so we had to purchase another license only for it. For Windows and Mac devices, the tool is free. If I purchase Palo Alto's Next-Generation Firewalls, it is free for Windows and Mac, but a license is required to use Prisma Access on Linux. I haven't used the cloud-based nature of Palo Alto Networks to simplify our company's network security management. I have only used the on-premises version in our company's infrastructure for GlobalProtect. I don't have any idea about the cloud Security in the product. The performance and reliability of the product are good. For the integration process, you first have to configure the firewall with the default management port IP, or alternatively, users can configure it through the console, which includes the CLI mode and GUI mode. Okay. After logging into the firewall from the CLI or GUI, you can configure GlobalProtect by taking into consideration the outside and inside zones, which we want to give access to via the tool. I am experienced with the tool's GUI mode. I configured it through the GUI mode. The first thing you have to learn about Palo Alto GUI mode is how to configure GlobalProtect. In general, I rate the tool an eight and a half to nine out of ten. Disclaimer: I am a real user, and this review is based on my own experience and opinions.

Offers good security and has a simple setup phase

What is our primary use case? I use the solution in my company for our remote workers and branch access. What needs improvement? The product's price is an area of concern where improvements are required. The solution's price should be lowered. Our company faces some issues during the product's configuration phase. The product's configuration part is slow and not very effective. In my company, we have to change the configuration multiple times to make it effective. The configuration part of the product can be improved. The product's support team needs to improve the quality of services offered. For how long have I used the solution? I have been using Prisma Access by Palo Alto Networks for a year. What do I think about the stability of the solution? Stability-wise, I rate the solution a seven out of ten. What do I think about the scalability of the solution? Scalability-wise, I rate the solution a ten out of ten. The product is suitable for medium to large-sized companies. How are customer service and support? I have experience with the solution's technical support. I rate the technical support an eight out of ten. How would you rate customer service and support? Positive Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch? I have experience with Fortinet FortiEDR. How was the initial setup? The product's initial setup phase is simple. The solution is deployed on the cloud. The solution can be deployed in a couple of hours. Which other solutions did I evaluate? Zscaler is a good product. In terms of features, Prisma Access by Palo Alto Networks and Zscaler are at the same level. Prisma Access by Palo Alto Networks may have an advantage over Zscaler in terms of security. Palo Alto Networks comes from security vendors, and Zscaler is available from cloud vendors. When it comes to simplicity and connectivity, Zscaler is better than Prisma Access by Palo Alto Networks. What other advice do I have? The product is secure for remote workers since it has many cloud-based facilities that can offer protection. The product can provide improved access to those clients who do not directly go to SaaS applications but prefer to use such applications via Prisma Access since it provides security policies to help secure the network traffic. For security needs, the product's security profile is good. I have experience with the product's GlobalProtect VPN feature, and I feel that it works fine. The feature also allows the customer or client to go through a tunnel to Prisma Access. The integration of Prisma Access with Palo Alto Networks can provide a better security posture. The integration of Prisma Access with Palo Alto Cortex XDR is the best, especially when our company sends the logs from Prisma Access to Cortex Data Lake. My company gets a full view of the attack part, consolidation, and timeline of the attacks in Palo Alto Cortex XDR. I recommend the product to those who plan to use it. I rate the tool an eight out of ten. Disclaimer: My company has a business relationship with this vendor other than being a customer:Partner

Offers client-based VPN remote access and improves security

What is our primary use case? We use the solution for client-based VPN remote access. What is most valuable? The solution's most valuable features were the model's reduced complexity on the client side and its capability to provide security. What needs improvement? The tools' scalability is subject to some limitations when done on-premise due to the need for additional licenses. However, in other scenarios, increasing scalability involves expanding infrastructure to accommodate more third-party VPN access. It is scalable as long as you pay the money. Also, it needs to improve security. For how long have I used the solution? I have been using the product for seven years. What do I think about the stability of the solution? I rate the tool's stability an eight out of ten. How was the initial setup? Prisma Access by Palo Alto Networks' deployment was straightforward. It was a big project and we were required to migrate the whole infrastructure. It took around six months to complete. It was a network migration project where we transitioned to the solution. The migration involved changing our network supplier from one provider to another. The IT team handled the technical aspects of the project. We prepared the infrastructure, including the servers and firewalls. We focused on the repair of the firewalls, ensuring connectivity, and replacing the main infrastructure. After these preparations, we proceeded to deploy the clients, conducting a pilot for the clients as part of the overall process. What was our ROI? The product is worth the money. What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing? The solution is expensive. What other advice do I have? I rate the overall product an eight out of ten. It reduces the attacks by providing an additional layer of security that inspects all traffic going to the internet. In terms of handling traffic spikes or network demands, the product performs well, but occasional tuning and adjustments may be required, such as changing the connection node. It enhances security protection beyond endpoint and computer security, which is effective when accessing the internet, and it also ensures secure VPN access to your company. Which deployment model are you using for this solution? On-premises Disclaimer: I am a real user, and this review is based on my own experience and opinions.
