Tripp Lite's APS700HF Ultra-Compact DC-to-AC inverter with automatic line-to-battery transfer and integrated charging system serves as an extended run UPS, a standalone power source or an automotive inverter. Supplies up to 700 watts of continuous 120V AC power to 1 AC outlet from any 12V battery or automotive DC source. OverPower inverter output feature provides up to 120% of the continuous output for up to 5 seconds, and DoubleBoost inverter output feature delivers up to 200% of the continuous output for up to 2 seconds, providing the extra power needed to cold start heavy-duty tools and motorized equipment. When AC cable is connected to a live wall socket, commercial power passes through to connected equipment and the battery set is recharged via 3-stage, 6-amp charging system. In UPS mode, the APS system responds to blackouts and voltage fluctuations with a near instantaneous automatic transfer to battery-derived AC output.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I may purchase another one for my RV.I used this for a small, reasonably priced back-up power system for a few outdoor security lights at work. The included plugs made installation a breeze. I like the LED's that give load and battery state of charge indication. It has performed exactly as it was presented by Tripplite. I will use these again in the future for our other buildings.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great for temporary power in work trailerI set up a UPS system for my University's Mars rover team's work trailer. This allowed us to keep fans, lights and tools working int he remote Utah desert for hours, and quickly recharged the battery bank when power was available. Make sure to install a fuse or breaker on the 12v side to prevent damaging your batteries, or make sure to get high current (deep cycle) batteries. If you plan on travelling with the system, make sure to install a switch on the 12v side to prevent slight drain from the inverter. Inverter did everything we needed and worked well in a hot and dusty environment

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This is one of many items we use in the field. We have many units working and have been very happy with them. No failures so far and that's great when running a WISP. Chris Lindley

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I own 2 of these and will be buying a 3rd soonAs power outages become more frequent, these become more needed. One is on the aquarium. it provides power to the pump, filter and heater. Without it, a long outage could mean death to your fish. When power is restored, it automatically switches and recharges the battery. The other is on a terrarium, keeping the tortoise warm when needed. If you look around your home, you will discover many items you need to keep powered up in an outage. I highly recommend these.
