This fit the bill perfectly and leaves the outlet underneath open. I trust Tripp-Lite and have seen before/after images of their products doing their job. I had bought another wall tap surge protector and was just not comfortable with it. It hissed when plugged in and clamping voltage was way too high even with UL 3rd edition standards. This is better quality and more compact to boot.
